Heres a nice fact I just picked up on:

9 of Staals 12 assists have been the primary assist (including the 2 he has tonight)

Marc Staal with another good effort, as he had two assists on the night, while being a +1(1 PPP) as the Sudbury Wolves win 6-3 against the Belleville Bulls.

Staal now has five goals, 12 assists, for a total of 17 points in 15 games.
His +/- rating has gotten better in the last two games and is at -1 on the season, while adding 13 penatly minutes to the mix.

Dubinsky got back on his horse tonight and got 2 goals and an assist in Portland's win. Hope the guy stays on track and stays out of trouble. I've read a few things that indicate he could be a handful, but it's probably just a case of youthful indiscretion. Hang in there kid we need ya.

I wouldnt read into that at all, from the people I spoke to he is fine, he was a little immature on ice last season but he is changing that this year (cept for one instance).

Dubinsky just showed some great leadership, teammate got kneed and Dubinsky jumped right in to take on one of the tuffest guys in the WHL by dropping the gloves to stick up for his teammate. Got 17 minutes worth of PIM from it (instigator, misconduct, fighting) but according to Winterhawk fans, it was a great show of character and leadership shown by Dubinsky.

BTW i'll update the stats for everyone tomorrow night, sorry i've been a bit slow on it in the past week.

Dubinsky with a huge game tonight.

The Hawks beat the 3rd overall team in the WHL 4-3 (Shoot out win) and Dubi had a goal and 2 primary assits (including a shorthanded assist). He was a +3 on the night and obviously the #1 star. 7 Points (3G, 4A) in his last 3 games.

Here is a quote from a Hawk fan who was at the game:
Quote:
Dubinsky had a GREAT game! Not only offensively! But he played hard on the boards and in the corners and back checking! The line of Hansen ,Dubi and Bubnick looked superb tonight!
Hes now tied in 5th in points in the WHL and Tied in 4th in assists, despite playing 4-5 less games on average then the rest of the league.

Battle of the captains faced he each tonight (Staal & Callahan) they went up against each other the whole night and the winner:

Marc Staal. 2 assists and a +2. Staal kept Callahan off the score sheet for only the 4th time in 15 games for him this season.

Wow, Staal has REALLY stepped up his offensive game this season. The scouts who thought he had untapped offensive potential prior to last years draft may have been right. Looks like we might have our #1 D-man

He's only 7 points away from his total points last year in 65 games (hes only played 18 so far this season).

The thing that impressed me is 11 of his 14 assists are primary assists..not secondary.

Billy Ryan

Not sure what 2nd year player Billy Ryan did in the offseason but hes a whole new player from last season.

He currently leads his team in points with 12 despite everyone playing 2 more games then him (he was injured the first 2 games). Hes also tied in 4th in H.E. league as well.

Right now he is playing on the 2nd line and is out performing another Ranger prospect Greg Moore (4th year player) who is on the 1st line.

Looking forward in watching Ryan whenever Maine has a game aired on TV. (which has been zero so far).

Ryan's Stats:
03-04 Season: 34GP / 6G / 9A / 15P
04-05 Season: 9GP / 3G / 9A / 12P

He just tied the amount of goals he had all of last season. BTW this game was another game of Captain vs Captain..but this time it was Staal (NYR) vs O'Marra (NYI)...and of course Staal came out on top again.

Staal with the OT goal, another assist, but was on the ice for three of the other team's goals.

He's playing well, and his offense is looking very impressive after 19 games.

He does play over 30 minutes a game so hes going to be on the ice for GA.

Quick Sunday OHL Update:

Callahan got 2G/1A in the teams 4-2 win and he is now tied in 4th in the OHL in goals with 17. He is also 1 of 3 players to average more then a goal a game in the OHL.

--

Staal picked up another pair of assists in his teams 6-3 win today which now puts Staal T-4th in the OHL in points among defensemen.

---
Pyatt picked up a goal in the teams 6-2 loss, his first point after going 3 games without any. Though he was very hot the previous 10 games before his drought (7G/6A in those 10 games)

Quote from a fan on Staal:

Quote:
I've been to 2 games in the past 8 days and he's logging a ton of ice time and playing with 3 defence partners. He rarely makes a mistake, gets on the scoreboard, and drops the gloves if need be. NYR fans have a good one to look forward to.

Maybe this was answered in the other pages but he's still a defenseman anyone that's seen him play, can you say if he was good defensively or not? That's most important IMO.

Friday Night Stars

In the WHL Ryan Russel continues his hot play leading the way for his team to win 4-1, he picked up 2 goals and an assist. He is 4th in the WHL in scoring and closing in on #3 while leaving behind the 5th place point producer with his 32 points in 25 games.
Roman Psurny has been very hot since twin brother Michal Psurny went down with in injury, tonight collecting a goal and 2 assists in the teams 6-1 win. Hes got 12 points in his last 6 games (5G/7A)

In the QMJHL prospect Marc-Andre Cliche picked up a hat trick and an assist in the 6-1 win, and teamate and another Ranger Prospect on defense Jonathan Paiement picked up a goal and an assist as well.

In the OHL tonight Marc Staal and the Sudbery Wolves lost 2-1 against the 1st place Colts on a Shorthanded goal, no this was one of the few shifts Staal was not on the ice in the 3rd. Staal doesnt have another game until Wednesday.

In the ECHL Jessiman was tossed with a Game Misconduct tonight, not sure why but he also recieved a Roughing penalty with it. The ref must have been Game Misconduct happy tonight because he also threw out Rick Kozak and Worrell in the 2nd. The team gave up 5 goals in the 3rd (probably because half the bench was ejected) and lost 5-2. Jessiman was held off the scoresheet.

Scoring Leader Update:
WHL:
Ryan Russel - 4th in Points
Brendon Dubinsky - T-10th in Points
Roman Psurny - T-24th in Points
Zdenek Bahensky - T-24th in Points

OHL:
Marc Staal - 5th in Points among Defensemen
Ryan Callahan - T-6th in Goals / 27th in Points

QMJHL:
Marc-Andre Cliche - 30th in Points

NCAA:
Billy Ryan - 6th in Hockey East (H.E.)
