Speaking of getting paid more than you. According to the rumors on cnn.com Brodeur is upset that with his 24% rollback he his not making what he should be. I think hes making like 6 million and change instead of the leaque max of like 7 million and change? (whatever 20% of 39 million is)

I knew its only a matter of time before millionaires start complaining about their millions. Whats my biggest complaint...not being able to stand around my non-existant water cooler at work (work is too cheap to put a water cooler by us) and complain about how its impossible to live on our wages and how we are actually modern slaves. Down with slave wages!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it's $850,000 plus a 10% signing bonus.

I think he's actually higher than the rookie max. That, I believe, is why he signed prior to the lockout... his contract was signed under the old CBA.

Vanek signed for a figure reported to be close to the allowable rookie max of $1.19 million in 2003. So with the 24% rollback his base salary for this season is approx $904K.

He also received a $1 million signing bonus.

For cap purposes that's averaged into the term of the contract (~$333k per year).

So excluding any incentive bonuses*, Vanek's approximate cap cost is $1.24 million.

*these are all still fully in force as provided in the entry level system of old CBA and may prove easily reachable for Vanek. The only change is that the payout is reduced 24%.
