i know this wouldn't happen now with the situation surrounding the thrashers.. but once the season gets going, a couple months in perhaps... maybe..
to atlanta: tie domi
to toronto: 5th rd pick
does this work? perrott is the new enforcer spark plug in toronto, he's earned it and is good enough, while atlanta is lacking some leadership on the bottom lines, real vet leadership and gain a tough guy that can pop some goals..

No thanks. The Leafs just lost some of their forward depth in Travis Green this week I dont think they'd want to lose Domi as well without getting something for him that contributes to the team this season.
With Lessard's struggles to actually play hockey, I can see the Thrashers making a move for an enforcer. If not a pick, than perhaps a defenseman going the other way. Maybe Tamer or Safronov.
Domi is more then just an enforcer. He has proven he can be an extreamly good forchecker. He is able to creat scoring chances and is able to score. Domi is prolly the most compleat tough guy in the league so your remark of 2 mill for an enforcer no thanks is foolish. Besides imo Domi has much more value to Toronto then a 5 - 3 round pick ever would.
If I'm Atlanta, I don't waste a draft pick to bring in a $2 million fighter who doesn't intimidate anybody.
None of the league's tough guys are scared of Domi, so his role as an enforcer is in-name only.
His role as a forechecker and "real hockey" player is mainly fabrication from a faction of fanatical Leaf fans who feel the need to build up Domi so his salary doesn't draw more criticism.
$2 million for this player is a total joke, and the Leafs wouldn't be able to unload this stiff for a pick, they would have to pick up another over-paid player in any deal in order to make this fly.

...huh?
2 million for Tie Domi isn't that bad. Though maybe 200k or 300k more expensive than he should be.
Tie Domi is one of the most intimidating fighters in the NHL over the past 12 years. Probably the only person in the league today that can say he beat Probert in his prime.
Along with that, he's very underrated defensively. He isn't as bad a skater as most people make him out to be, but I wouldn't compare him to Alex Mogilny.
He hits, and he hits hard. He aggitates the opposition and gets under their skin, throwing them off their game.
He's also good for at least 10 goals a year which is better than 95% of the enforcers in the league.
He's a damn good leader and gets his team to play with emotion.

Yeh, I see the fabrication.. averaging 10-15 goals over the past 3 years must be some sort of illusion that Leaf fans created.
I would say Barnaby is more complete, but I agree that Domi is a unique player with what he brings to his team. He is not a one dimensional goon at all.

Hartley Said that Tie Domi is the best tough guy in the NHL. He likes Domi a lot.

Do you have any idea at all as to what you're talking about? This is one of the most dumbfounded posts I've ever read. It is completely brutal.
Domi is still one of the more intimidating players in the league and I'm sure there are several tough guys in the league that aren't rushing to fight him. An enforcer in name only? Ok bud, if you really think so you go ahead and believe that.
Haha, I can't help but laugh at some of these comments. You clearly don't watch Domi play or else you have it in for Leafs fans. Domi is a very solid defensive player. Sound positionally, good on the forecheck and can chip in offensively. Let's not forget that he is absolutely loved in TO and is the consumate team player. If he didn't cost $2 million per year there would be countless teams interested in his services.
The Leafs could easily land a pick for Domi, probably a decent one as well if they find the right suitor. You really need to get out of your box and watch some actual hockey before you make some of these comments because you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
And if you want to know why Domi makes $2 million per year, it's not only because of his contributions on the ice, it's his value to the organization. His jersey is the highest selling jersey of all Leafs player and he is one of the major reasons why the Leafs sellout so many games and have such high merchandise sales. It's very similar to the Michael Jordan situation. I'm not comparing the two in terms of impact to the team obviously, but you cannot tell me that Jordan is worth $37 million for one season of basketball. That is just absurd. He was given that contract because of his overall worth to the Bulls.
And I'm not a Leafs fan.

thoughts?
I don't think Domi will be moved but if he were I think the Leafs would rather package him off with another player for a warm body in return instead of just a draft pick...........maybe Domi and another player off of the leafs roster for a solid #3 defenceman.

As getting off topic as this may be, Domi has nothing to do with the Leafs filling the ACC. In fact Mats Sundin, Alexander Mogilny, and Ed Belfour have nothing to do with selling out the ACC. The only thing that makes Leafs games so popular are the throngs of idiots who would pay a couple of bills even to see the Leafs suck. I should know, I'm one of them.
Harold Ballard capitalised on this fact for years, making the team into a cash cow instead of even a playoff contender. Even during the worst times of the Leafs (known to most people as the 1980's), fans still came even for standing room only to cheer for a team consistently posting sub-.400 seasons. Leafs fans are idiots. Well most of them in the Greater Toronto Area anyway.
Take my ex-girlfriend (insert Rodney Dangerfield joke here) who is a pretty good representation of about 60% of Leafs fans: Cujo is the best goaltender that ever wore the Blue and White, EVER. It was said before on these very same HF boards that Leafs fans are the only ones in the league that still believe Mikael Renberg is still a first line player, and are probably the only ones that thought that Garry Valk and Jonas Hoglund were good players too. It's not like it's their fault though, they keep getting led around with false promises of a Stanley Cup and awful GM's making ridiculous trades (1st round draft pick in 1991 which turned out to be Scott Niedermayer for Tom Kurvers).
It's not like I can go to Leafs games anymore anyway. With tickets ranging from $25 obstructed to $405 for good ones, why bother? It's just going to further the opinion of management that people will still pay top dollar to see a shoddy product.

I've done case study work on the Leafs so I know all about what goes on with that organization.

Ohhhhhh-kay . . . but I don't really know if you're agreeing or disagreeing with my statement or if you're just saying something for the point of saying it.
