Sounded like he had a good game versus LA. Can't tell having not watched. Seems like we have quite a few candidates regardless.

Why isn't Svatos playing tonight? He hasn't had that good of a preseason so far, like others have said, so why give him a night off? He didn't tweak that groin injury he had, did he?

He is a healthy scratch according to the broadcast. Only Hejduk and Blake are out due to injuries.

Yeah, I'd be very curious to hear the line combinations, Jori, s'il-te-plait.

Ok, last time I talk use my French here, I promise!

I believe Sakic is with Brunette and Laaksonen. Turgeon has been playing with Wolski. May, Hinote and McCormick make up the fourth line. There has been some mixing so I can't recall all the lines, sorry.

Brisebois with a delay of game penalty. Dallas pulls Turco, but then Laaksonen draws a penalty (the third he has drawn tonight). Aebischer just called for a delay of game penalty for playing the puck outside of the trapezoid, 4 on 3 for Dallas. Make that a 5 on 3 for Dallas, they pulled Turco.

Guerin bugs Aebi...Aebi apparently whacks Bill in the back of the leg, yet Guerin gets the penalty.

Sudden death shoot-out....Sakic and Jokinen are the only two to score on the first three tries.

Bruno and Zubov score for Colorado and Dallas respectively.

Bob Boughner, the sniper , is stopped by Turco. Guerin stopped by Aebischer.

McLean goes stick side on Turco. Ott goes five-hole on Aebi.

Konowalchuk is stopped by Turco. Oliver is stopped by Aebischer.

Lappy stopped by Turco. Finally Mike Modano shows up to the party and wins the shoot-out for Dallas.

The Avs only 17 shots but 4 goals? Turco... Ouch.

Haynes said on the radio broadcast that Boughner had been begging for a shoot-out chance in practice. I'm sure it was all in good fun.

I'm again encouraged by the perfect 10 for 10 penalty killing tonight.

Our PK has been very good thus far; I hope this is a direct effect of Joel Quennville, and continues into the regular season.

It would shock me. I guess I'm in the minority here (or at least among those who are voicing an opinion on his preseason play), but I've been very happy with Svatos' play each time I've seen him this preseason. I know the numbers may not be there (actually, I don't even know his numbers), but watching him actually play, I've been impressed. He's looked like a far better and more active player than Wolski, IMO, and it's hard for me to imagine him not on the top two lines, let alone not being with the big club.

I couldn't agree more. In fact, "very good" is probably an understatement. The PK has been amazing, and this has included many 5-on-3 and 4-on-3 situations. How many PP goals have we allowed in this preseason?

Here's how our PK has been in each game so far:

Sept. 17 vs Dallas - 6 for 7
Sept. 21 at Detroit - 7 for 8
Sept. 24 vs Los Angeles - 6 for 7
Sept. 27 vs Detroit - 6 for 6
Sept. 29 vs Los Angeles - 9 for 9
Oct. 1 at Dallas - 10 for 10

Total: 44 for 47 = 93.6%

The numbers are courtesy of individual ESPN game recaps.

Forsberg scored in his opener for the Caps, if anybody was wondering. He also got a diving penalty, lol.

At the game, fun times.

Turco wasn't really at fault for the goals. The Dallas defense had several brainfarts. Turgeon's was wide open on the far post on the power play (Erskine's fault). Uh... (I think) the fourth goal was a 3 on Turco where Stu Barnes (who had an, uh, interesting game) not only turned the puck over, he then collided with Stephane Robidas which took both Stars out of the play. One of the other power play goals (not Turgeon's) was a tip in that Sergei Zubov lost his check on.

Aebisher, on the other hand, really should have had Robidas' goal. It was a 2 v. 1, and Aebishcer was cheating to the pass across so Robidas got a bad angle shot behind him. Jokinen's goal was an Avs' defensive error that left him all alone in the low slot for a backhand, nothing Aebishcer could do about that.

Ott (the huh?) and Modano made Aebischer look stupid on the shootout goals. Sakic did the game for the Avs agaisnt Turco.

The first period was fairly even, the second was fairly tilted toward the Avs (though that had a lot to do with the Stars falling all over themselves to turn it over in the neutral zone) and the third was all Stars. But the Stars power play was, uh, interesting at best and created very few quality chances.

Good game. Wasn't particularly impressed with either team, but it was compeitive and had enough rhythm, even with the excessive power plays, that it was entertaining.

Good pick up by Washington.

They definitely needed somebody to help out Alexander Ovechkin and they've found the right fuy. Also, adding Peter Forsberg will help ease the pain of Alexander Semin going back to Russia.

Awesome to see Turgeon have a offensive burst. Hopefully, he'll be a consisant contributer to this team.

I can't figure out whats going on with Svatos. Seems he's working himself off the roster? Is his groin injury bothering him still?

Sakic is Sakic; nuff said
