Plekanec has been demoted

According to RDS.CA Tomas Plekanec has been sent down to Hamilton. Personnally, I think that's the best thing for Plekanec's developpement. In montreal 4th line duty was the max he could hope... In Hamilton he'll anchor the first or the second line and see tons of ice time in a lot of different situations. Jarvis will probably help him a lot. The next one is Chris Higgins...

TSN has nothing yet. They'll probably wait for more cuts to be announced. Though, with all the injuries, it's possible a few guys could go on the IR, leaving no cuts necessary until next week.

It was inevitable.

At least he'll see a lot of ice time. I was starting to like Tomas.

Hmmm... maybe Hainsey will be demoted first.

Then again, they'll probably all be packaged down in one large dropping.

That good for him, he will probably center one of the first two line in Hamilton and Jarvis will probably show him some defensive trick. He's young, let him time to learn the game a little more, they only time I see him play, he seem lost. One year in the farm club will make wonder for him and we will have more space on the rooster next year also. I just hope we will have hockey in 2004-2005...
YOU HEARD THAT BETMAN???

f**king moron...

He should have good players on his wings aswell. A expect a very good year for Tomas Plekanec in the ahl. I wouldn't be surprised if he reaches the 65-70 point plateau.

Could get a call up depending on his production.

Koivu-Kilger-Begin-Langdon are on the injury list. So as long as those 4 players will stay on this list, there wont be more cuts.

We have currently 23 players actives...

Of course this is only temporary as those 4 players will come sooner than later.

What happened to Begin and Langdon?
Also, I thought that Zeddy sprained his knee.

Well so much for the youth movement. Even with all the injuries, the article here (french) says Ryder, Ward and Dwyer will likely form the 4th line on the opener while Higgins won't play.

Meanwhile, Audette who has done nothing to impress during the camp sees himself promoted on the top line with Perreault and Bulis. (Perreault and Audette playing together... OMG).

Sundstrom, Juneau and Dackell will play on the 3rd.

So I guess this means Zednik will be ready to play in the 1st game.

Bulis - Pereault - Audette
Hossa - Ribeiro - Zednik
Sundstrom - Juneau - Dackell
Dwyer - Ward - Ryder

Who said CJ would give more rope to our youngsters? They'll likely become healthy scratches when Begin, Kilger, Koivu and Langdon come back. Ward had a so-so camp but Ryder? He deserved a better fate than 4th line under Dackell and Audette.

Edit - typo

Good Stuff, I hope he'll continue is developpement in the AHL after that. because seriously its better for him to be in the AHL and have good ice time than barely play in montreal. he will have a great experience at least in Montreal.

Good luck Chris!

Hey,

I have no idea what the number situation is with Chris. Ill ask him next time I talk to him, but for now I imagine his number his 88, unless he gets a chance at 18 before Thursday night? No idea though.

Take care

Kev

I think Claude Julien's comments about his decision of sending Tomas Plekanec down to the AHL were pretty accurate. While Tomas doesn't really fill any of our current needs at center, as Perreault and Ribeiro are similar players, Higgins bring more to the game, something the Canadiens will need in order to suceed with the new defensive system installed by Julien.

Higgins is more reliable for defensive coverage, can work on the PK unit if needed, and has shown hr can take pretty good decisions under pressure, even at the NHL level. To me, that's a smart move by the management. Let's see how Chris will be used against the Sens, though.

Hamilton almost better than the Canadiens

I am not a fan of floaters like Audette, Perreault and Juneau. I also think Dackell is nothing more than a fringe NHL guy (as of last year - two years ago, different story). I just wanted to comment that with Zednik and Koivu hurt, I honest to God believe that the Bulldogs have a better forward lineup than Montreal (literally). If you consider Ryder or Ward a part of Hamilton (once are waiver pickups become healthy), then you're looking at a set of forwards such as Plekanec, Ryder, maybe Ward, Svitov, Somouveri, Higgins, Balej, Milroy etc. versus the likes of Hossa, Juneau, Audette, Perreault, Begin, Langdon, Dackell, Kilger. Seriously, give me the first set of guys in NHL uniforms any day of the week! Go youth movement

If, on Thursday night, Yanic Perreault and Donald Audette form two thirds of the Canadiens first line, than Montreal may aswell forfeit the game. I mean, for christ sake, who would believe that Bob Gainey would put up with that?

That line will be absolutely terrible. Juneau and Dackell? I thought we would be turning the page on those two. I guess not...what do they bring to the team? Let us hope that, when the injured reserve is cleared out, so are Joe Juneau and Andreas Dackell.
