An Evening with Kevin Smith

This is the best 3 hours + I have ever spent watching a movie. It is so funny. Its Kevin Smith and Q&A sessions at different Colleges and him telling stories. The man is a genious. Any Kevin Smith fan who has not seen this...SEE IT! NOW!

My favourite part was when he was talking about how he wanted to film is upcoming movie Jersey Girl in an April well Benlo couldnt do it because he had already commited to Daredevil. So he told Mirimax that he was going to recast his part. Here is the phone conversation he told us about.

Benlo: Whats this I hear about you recasting my part in Jersey Girl, you wrote it for me!?
KS: I want to start filming it in April but your doing Daredevil.
Benlo: You wrote the part for me and reccomended me for Daredevil.
KS: K, If we start filming in the summer, then you have to take a paycut.
Benlo: Fine, god damnit.
*silence*
Benlo: Hey your not even finished the ****ing script are you?!
KS: Sucker..
*click*

Kevin Smith is a genius. Everything he tells is very interesting. Check it out. Its like 3 hours and 45 minutes.

He is a genius, of course. But he isn't a genius filmmaker by any standards. He is capable of combining the two easily but he chooses not to.

He's like the sniper who brings his drinking buddies to the state fair and shoots ducks in a row and purposely misses so his drinking buddies don't kick his ass.

Do you remember the piece he did for the Tribute to 9/11?

He basically reflected on views of NY from a NJ resident's perspective. It was f-ing brilliant.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back wasn't that good, Dogma wasn't bad but still not as good as Clerks or his other films. And anything with Bennifer and J-Ho has to be awful.

J-Lo is barely in the movie thankfully, she just has a bit part. Ben sucks but he's been good throughout Smith's movies...except Mallrats where he just sucked.

My rankings of the Smith movies
1. Dogma
2. Mallrats
3. Clerks
4. J&SB Strike Back
5. Chasing Amy

1-4 all are in my top 10 of movies period though, including 1-3 being...well 1-3

I have had this on DVD for about a year now and i have watched it like 3 times. It is the best work he has ever done. Some of the people have good questions but the others well are just odd (whats a good way to make money to make a movie? segmant)
