The Tennessean: Preds' lines take shape behind Legwand, Johansson

Quote:
From the Tennessean:

Change is always constant with the Predators' lines, but Nashville's opening-night lineup started to take shape at practice yesterday.

David Legwand will center the first line beside left wing Andreas Johansson and right wing Scott Walker when Anaheim visits the Gaylord Entertainment Center tomorrow night.

This figures to be the team's most potent line. Johansson led the Predators in goals (20) and Legwand had the most points (48) last season. Injuries have limited Walker's production the past two years, but he had 25 goals and 29 assists in 2000-01.

In short, here are the line combos

Legwand, Johansson, Walker
Johnson, Murray, Tootoo
Arkhipov, Hartnell, Orszagh
Fiddler, Erat, Hall

In practice, they had Timonen and York together. Brookbank and Schnabel together and Hamhuis and Zidlicky together. Eaton missed practice due to funeral.

They will probably be carrying 7 dmen.

So you think it will be Eaton with Brookbank or Schnabel or Eaton with Hamhuis or Zidlicky?

I'd be really surprised if Johnson's line is #2 and Arkhipov's is #3 - seems like the Johnson-Murray-Tootoo lineup will be geared more defensively than Arkhipov's

I think with Trotz, you can roll lines 2-4 almost evenly, the first line will barely get more ice time than the others.

Then I guess the opening defense would be this:

Timonen/York
Eaton/Zidlicky
Brookbank/Schnabel

If seven d, then Hammy in, Fiddler out.

I doubt York gets top pairing time tonight, probably 2nd or 3rd pairing.

I also agree that the Arkhipov line will most likely be the no. 2 line.

Yeah I think the Arkhipov line will get a bit more ice time than the Johnson line. I think York will be fine with Timonen. He had been doing conditioning and what not.
