Suprised to see Bergevin gone so fast but there was no spot for him on the team anyway.

Newby here… finally decided to register here.

So now after Plekanec’s demotion and Svitov's being assigned to Hamilton, here’s the Hamilton roster for now. Notice that D’s Brent MacLellan and J.P. Cote (Mtl tryouts) are still there. Possible contract maybe?

Goaltenders: (3)
J.F. Damphousse (Mtl)
Eric Fichaud (Mtl)
Olivier Michaud (Mtl)

Defence: (9)
Andrew Archer (Mtl)
Francois Beauchemin (Mtl)
J.P. Cote (tryout)
Karl Dykhuis (Mtl)
Andreas Holmqvist (TB)
Brent MacLellan (tryout)
Philippe Plante (Ham)
Matt Shasby (Mtl)
Patrick Traverse (Mtl)

Forwards: (16)
Jozef Balej (Mtl)
Sylvain Blouin (Mtl)
Ben Carpentier (Ham)
Pierre Dagenais (Mtl)
Jonathan Ferland (Mtl)
Benoit Gratton (Mtl)
Christian Larrivee (Mtl)
Jerome Marois (Mtl)
Alexandre Mathieu (Ham tryout???)
Duncan Milroy (Mtl)
Jimmie Olvestad (TB)
Alex Perezhogin (Mtl)
Tomas Plekanec (Mtl)
Eero Somervuori (TB)
Alex Svitov (TB)
M.A. Thinel (Mtl)

So… Three tryouts still remain, not sure if Alexandre Mathieu is one. But, with Montreal going to have to demote four people sooner or later, there will be some more cuts/demotions. Does anyone know the roster limit for the AHL?

Welcome to the board. Good post. I don't know the AHL limit off hand, but when the Habs send down more guys, Thinel, Larrivee, Marois, could go to the ECHL (Columbus). Cote, MacLellan and Mathieu still could be cut, but I got to think at least one gets signed.

Larrivée did very well. He had the first star one match. So why send him in the ECHL

Marois played below the AHL and not a prospect anymore. I don't think he will stay with all the bodies we have. Larrivee should stay on the 4th line or has an extra attaquer, he will have to fight for his ice time but thats good for him.

Yea it's called preseason. There's a lot of talent in Hamilton and several players will have to go to the ECHL. Only the coach and Savard know who this will be but I can guess.

Marois last year couldn't even score 1 goal in the ECHL where he's played the last two years. Yes he had a hat trick, but in preseason where most of the top AHL players aren't playing yet, it's not that big of a deal.

Maybe Marois and Larrivee can stick with Hamilton, but they got their work cut out for them.

I`m sure this is a dumb question but what`s with all the Tampa Bay prospects in Hamilton? Did Tampa loose there farm team? I`m guessing if they had one they wouldn`t be sending guys like Svitov, Somervuori to Hamilton but I haven`t heard anything about this.

Eitherway it`ll be good having these guys since they should help offset the loss of Ward, Ryder, Komi? etc etc.

We have an agreement with Tampa to pick up to 4 of their prospects to play with us in Hamilton. The thing is, I beleive we have the upper hand as it's us that can choose who we want from a list. So it's probably why we've had all their 3 best prospects (Svitov, Somervuori, Homqvist).

Hummmm....There were earlier concerns that the Hamilton team would not be as strong as last year, since we are no longer sharing the team with Edmonton. But with the line up / players listed above, the 'Dogs should be in for a good year. Just looking at the offensive potential of this team gives me shivers (Perez, Plek, Svitov, Somervuori, Milroy...drool...), and the D is pretty good as well. Great to have the young prospects developing in a winning environment!!

EDIT: Pretty good first post by the way! Welcome aboard!
