Ah yes, Slats, don't bring up a player from within, oh no, don't give it to perhaps the hardest working player in camp. Go pick up some 6'5 250 pound goon who can't skate in Siklenka and award him a spot over someone much more deserving, Richard Scott.

i disagree i think scott needs to show more and tjutin needs major minutes. have you ever seen siklenka in a fight? he can kick ass

How is Scott more deserving and what does it matter? I'm sure Siklenka would rather be playing then sitting in the press box every game. We complain about too many insignificant moves that this team does.

I'm not complaining, I'm voicing my displeasure. What does it matter? It mattes because for once I want this team to develop players from within. That's what matters.

Voicing your displeasure is the definition of complaining. Develop what though? This is Richard Scott, he'll probably be serving fries at McDonalds in a few years.

I must have missed the time Scott split the Defense. Scott is okay but isnt Siklenka younger and from what I hear a better fighter? Neither is much of a player. I'm not losing sleep over this move. Sather obviously wasnt impressed by Scott that much so I have no problem at all with the move.

yeah but would they lay you off or would you just move up to register?
I think 'Jar Jar' is right, Tjutin is a good one, but it'll be best in the long run if he gets some serious minutes in the "A" before he's thrown into the Circus that is 'True Blue'!

I gotta ask, if they did keep both Scott and Tjutin up, how long would it be before you started voicing your displeasure when they are only playing once in every 8 games? I like Scott but he isn't going to get much time if he's up here so it's probably best that he plays everyday down in Hartford. And it's not like he set the world on fire during preseason. He had a pretty mixed bag.
Developing players "the right way" from within is what hopefully the Rangers are trying to do with Tjutin. Lets face the fact that the guy IS NOT READY for regular shifts in the NHL at this time. Trust me, I think he'll be a gamer but I think he'll benefit from being down in Hartford playing on the first pair. It's alot better then him sitting in the pressbox as the 7th or 8th defenseman. Something that waiver pick up, Bouchard or Purinton are perfect for.

Agreed. It's the same with Blackburn - once, he's healthy...

If Fedor "is not ready", then what does that say about Bobo, Malakhov and Purinton, who he handily outplayed through preseason?
I think it's sad that developing players the "right way" means getting them as far away from this team as we can. 29 other NHL teams have rewarded spectacular play from young players with roster spots, putting their best 23 players together regardless of their age. I'm a big Bouchard supporter, but Tjutin earned that spot and should keep it until his play earns him a demotion.
I don't mind the demotion much, but if I had any say in the matter, Malakhov would've been dealt, and Tjutin would've kept a spot.. As it is, it won't be the worse thing for him to get a lot of time in HFD, and we all know the injury bug can hit quickly, so he may be back up soon..
But still, it makes no sense for a team 6 years out of the playoffs to avoid letting younger guys get a lot of time with the varsity..
As far as Scott... I thought he earned a spot, but we all know he'd be sitting almost everynight.. At least the fans in HFd get one of their favorites back, and he can protect Moore and Tjutin and the gang..
I'm of 2 minds on the demotions. Yes, Tjutin did not do any worse than any of Dale or the M&M girls. However, and I have been harping on this from the beginning, is it really worth it for him to get minimal minuites under Sather, as opposed to getting major minutes in Hartford AND be assured that he will be able to continue to develop next year when there is no NHL. Playing underneath Sather ensures that he will be scapegoat #1 when something enevitably goes wrong. So is it really worth it for him to be benched for 5 or 6 straight games like Kloucek was? Let him be the man in Hartford this year and let him be able to keep playing next year.
Scott is in a similar boat. I think that he did not do any worse than Simon, however, Sather was not going to play a player with options ahead of his $1.5m vet. I think that Scott will be a member of the team during the next year (whenever it is that the league resumes after next inevitable cancellation). I would rather that Scott got minutes instead of playing 1 game out of every 10 as he would under Sather.

As a defensemen, what's minimal minutes? 16 including 3 mins on the PK? Personally, I'd say 16 NHL minutes is more valuble than 22 AHL minutes in terms of developing a player who's obviously very close to being ready if he's not already.
The only reason Tjutin's getting the shaft is because the organization is devoid of any other defensemen who are ready to be called up in case of injury. With Lampman out, Nycholat is the next guy in line. In my head, using him merely as a safety net might be the best thing for the organization, but it certainly isn't the best thing for a developing player.

How much was Tjutin going to be "developed" under Sather? He may have started a game or 2, but it would be 1 mistake and off to the bench he would go. Right or wrong, Sather would not give him more time than he would to Purinton or Bouchard. Then when Leetch comes back, Tjutin would be permanently jettisoned to the ranks of undressed. Not saying that Purinton or Bobo or Malacough (or Poti for that matter) deserve to be in the lineup any more, but just taking the realistic approach here. You and I both know all it would take would be one inteference or retaliation penalty and Tjutin would become Sather's "example". You and I both know that the M&M girls can do whatever they want to on the ice, but when it comes to accountability, the only ones that are held "accountable" for anything are those who can jettisoned to Hartford. The only reason that Tjutin is getting the shaft is because he has options while Purinton, Bouchard, Bobo, Malacough, and Poti do not.

Come on dude. Are you telling me Sather's going to waive one of Purinton or Bouchard in order to bench Tjutin, just to set an example, rather than simply send him down?

I think that we may have a misunderstanding here. When I say example, I mean that benching him, not dressing him, or simply sending him down.
