Brule and Hossa with great starts !

Hmmm, I knew it. Hossa scored a goal and Brule played an excellent game with the Bluejackets (1 pass).
Ok we can talk about Brule, but why give up on Hossa...

And we still have Dagenais....what a pity

guess we see perez tomorrow????

C'mon...we drafted Price, he's a good goaltender with a lot of potential and we should be happy...If we would have chose Brule, he would be in Vancouver wight now so who cares if he notch 25-30 points this season...

As for Hossa, well, I don't care anymore with the way that Plekanec and Higgins are playing...

And for the iPod, yeah right...

There's been 2 threads about this offer in the non-hockey boards.

I can't believe we trade a guy on pace for 82 goals in Hossa and a rookie on pace for 82 assists...man our management and scouting is stupid!

Why do these damn stupid post show up after 1 game? If it were half a season I would understand, but this pathetic!!!

Please move on with your life.

Having watched Hossa play tonight, I am pretty much on the fence over whether the trade was prudent or not...

He's played a terrific two-way game, was very alert in the defensive zone, and the confidence the Rangers have developed in him showed when they threw him out there against Forsberg in the final minutes of the game...

Offensively, he played to his strengths, great along the boards, showed good speed on the wing, but it was obvious offense wasn't his strength....and thats surprises me with the kind of shot he has...

Will he become a more consistent offensive zone player in the years to come, we'll have to wait and see...

At this point it seems he's developing some chemistry with Straka ad Rucchin, but the again its only 1 game...

But at this point, it seems we lost a very good two way forward, and unfortunately we have tons of those in the making, who are equally good...Plekanec, Higgins, Chipchura...

Brule!!!! Hossa!!!! OH MY GOD

you know what... peeople change teams. Life happens. move on!

Roy won 2 cups after leaving Montreal..
I remember Leclair having a pretty good career in Philly..
Lafleur scored for the Nordiques after leaving here.
Recchi is playing with Crosby right now.
Malakhov, Claude Lemieux, Desjardins, Schneider, Cassels, Chelios, Robidas! Traverse...

Come on get it out of your system... are there any more?

How about Jassen Cullimore, do you regret us drafting Chouinard instead of Gagné maybe...? Come on let it all out... Brent Bilodeau anyone? Darcy Tucker? I hear Zubrus scored tonight... you want to start a thread about him too?

Jesus!

makes sense if...

I too would have kept Hossa with the big club this year... My only thought is that Gainey knew Dagenais would quickly play himself out of the line-up and open up a spot for Perez-Higgins-Pleks to play on one of the top two lines.
Hossa had already had plenty of opportunity to play there and simply didn't cut it.
If Dagenais does last more than a dozen games or so, then I will be flat out confused.

As for Brule... Why do people even mention his name... He has skill, he will be an NHLer, but he really didn't fit our needs in any way. I've always maintained that size doesn't matter as far as being necessary to succeed as a team or as an individual player (man does Parise ever look like a steal for the Devils), but at the same time you don't want to ice a roster with all of your players under 6 feet and 200 pounds...
Plus Price sure looks like the real deal...
When it's all said and done (10-15 years down the road) I bet both players (price/brule) establish themselves as solid NHLers, and hopefully both are being talked about as future hall of famers (with Price getting consideration for immediate entry based on his 7 consecutive stanley cups and Conn Smythe's... )

I thought a lot of Hossa two years ago. Lot of raw ability. But he never put it together. More often than not prospects (projects) that you can sing praises for all their individual talents, then conclude that they just need to put everything together wind up being journeymen and busts. I hope Hossa does put his talent together, but the odds are against him. Even if he has a hot start to the season.

Bottom line is he didn't progress since turning pro. He likely didn't give a good impression to management off ice (or they'd be more willing to give him a better shot). Montreal opted to remove a player that wasn't fitting into the team in the short-term and wasn't showing any signs of being a worthwhile asset in the long-term.

Let's see where Hossa is in 40 games.

Brule is a blue chipper for sure. Personally I think MacLean may think higher of him than Nash. But Price is a blue chipper also. Gainey did a good thing also. Can't go wrong either way he went.

Personally, I would have drafted Brule and traded somebody like Perezhogin for a blue chipper on the blueline.

He'll be their best all-around player down the road IMO, Nash #2.

hossa was in the right spot at the right time, the goal was more of a having good fortune type of thing

he wasn't great or terrible last night.. if he had no where to go on your top 2 lines, really nothing to complain about since he wouldn't be playing the role he would most likely thrive with

It's 1 game...

What is with all these people making the first game of an 82-game season the be all and end all of the season?

Chouinard wins the Richard
Ovechkin wins the Calder
Arnott wins the Ross
Zubvo wins the Norris
What else?

Well stop the season. No need to play the other 81 games.

Hossa is not the kind of player you have on a Cup winner.

you're right, but I think Hossa will have a good season in NY and it's still a bad move... now you don't have option when there's injuries... real bad
