Admirals opening night roster released

Forwards
15 Kris Beech
11 Paul Brown
21 Greg Classen
20 Darren Haydar
23 Chaz Johnson
24 Libor Pivko
49 Marco Rosa
12 Brandon Segal
16 Timofei Shishkanov
25 Jerred Smithson
29 Robert Snowball
19 Scottie Upshall
33 Jeremy Yablonski

Defensemen
17 Sheldon Brookbank
8 Ryan Glenn
6 Kevin Klein
18 Evgueni Nourislamov
3 T.J. Reynolds
4 Shea Weber
5 Greg Zanon

Goaltenders
1 Brian Finley
35 Pekka Rinne

That defense looks pretty suspect. Re-building year?

Also, apparently Vern Fiddler has been sent down so I guess Nichol is coming back.

Most of those guys have been sent to Milwaukee from Nashville, and all of the other D-men in camp were sent packin', mostly to Rockford (UHL)

top 3 dmen are Shea, Klein & Zanon in no particular order ... pair them with one of the other 3 dmen and they should be straight in Milwaukee

IMO a problem with Milwaukee last year was they didn't play very physical on the blue line. Doesn't look like they're going to have that problem this year. They're dressing 3 physical d-men this year. Zanon isn't exactly soft either.

Very nice to see Ryan Glenn make this roster. I thought the kid hung in there rather well at the Predators Camp. Nice to see this kid get a shot.

Congratulations to him and his parents.

To NoMoreKids & Pred303:
Sorry to confuse, what I ment was that of the defensemen NoMoreKids listed most of them (for the exception of Nourislamov) were sent to Milwaukee from Nashville during this past training camp. It was a response to the rebuilding question.

The other part of my statement about sending the other defensemen packing was refering to those that were released from camp on Monday by the Ads reiterating that the list of D-men that NoMoreKids posted is what the Ads have to work with. Clearly it is not as impressive as last year's Defensive line-up.

As far as Fiddler is concerned that's great, he should clear waivers and give Milwaukee another center. There are a few bubble skaters at forward who are on contract with Rockford who will probably get sent there when Fiddler clears.

I agree I thought Rosa had a pretty good camp. It is to bad we couldn't get Stehlik, Sulzer, or Shafigulin to come over to N. America.

Robert Snowball... I like it. I need an Ad's jersey with the name Snowball on the back now. That will go well with my Robin Big Snake Red Wings rookie camp jersey.

The Admirals look good this year. I usually watch them when they come to Chicago (who looks really weak this year). I dont see many concerns on defense; its not as strong scoring wise as last year for sure, but they should be fine.

What happened to Big Snake after the Wings cut him. I think he is a very tough kid and would like to see him get another shot.

I'm pretty sure he signed with the Rockford IceHogs in the UHL.

does anyone know if the AHL went back to the 22 man roster limit they had before the 04-05 season..I know they increased it last season to 23 specifically because of the lockout, but have not heard if it was reduced again this year.

If so, if Fiddler clears...wonder what forward will be released to make room for him? Would almost have to be Rosa or Snowball if that is the case. Could be Rosa since Fiddler will make 5 centers on the Milwaukee roster, but you would think it would more likely be Snowball. (just guessing here since i've never seen snowball play).

Of course, if the roster limit is still 23 they could keep both. But i also saw where Rosa and Glenn only signed 14 day PTO contracts. I don't know what type of deal Snowball is under, since he wasn't listed.

Robert Snowball is signed to a minor-league contract by the Nashville Predators.

Anyhoo...

The Admirals (0-3 in preseason) dropped their opener in Grand Rapids tonight. Can't really offer any insight that you couldn't get by looking up the game stats on the net since I couldn't receive recetion from the station this evening and I couldn't get the net feed from Grand Rapids.

The Ads lost 6-3: Rinne and Finley each gave up three while GR's power play sounded great for the short time I could catch a listen through the static (I did get rather fuzzy reception for a breif few minutes while driving in my car, but couldn't quite justify spending the gas money to listen to the game - no matter how hard I tried to convince myself ). In the short time I listened there were 4 hooking penalties.

Upshall had a pair of assists and Segal, Pivko, and Beech each scored for the Ads.

Edit: I heard Fiddler's name on the radio and couldn't tell if he was playing or what. Checking the scoresheet, he was in the line-up so, as I figured, he cleared.
