GDT 10/10/05 Detroit vs Vancouver

vs

@ The Joe Louis Arena (starts at 7:30)

Projected Starting Goaltenders

Manny Legace (3-0) (2.00 GAA) vs Dan Cloutier (1-0) (2.42 GAA)
(Rumblings of possibly Alex Auld????)

Random Thoughts
Wings looking to go 4-0
Can Bertuzzi - Morrison - Naslund be contained???
Can Samuelsson keep it up?
Draper and Maltby both pointless so far...
I'm excited for this one, it should be good!!! I'll say Wings win it 5-4

I watched 95% of the Canucks vs. Oilers game on Saturday (gawd, I *LOVE* that Hockey Night in Canada is back!). Based on what I saw I think we'll do pretty well. Im predicting a 5-3 Wings win.

This should be the best game of the season so far. Can't wait for this one either. I'll say 4 -3 Wings
Zetterberg 2, Shanahan, Fischer

After our last game I'm gonna say 4-3 wings. Although Bert always seems to do well against Detroit so I'm hoping he finally gets it in gear.

I'm thinking Detroit wins 5-1.
Vancouver looked a tad on the slow side (this is compared to the oilers, though...) and their defense aside from Bryan Allen, Ed Jovanovski and Mattias Ohlund was less than impressive and their PP was anemic, (Lee Goren and Nolan Baumgartner?! on their PP?!!)
Lets not even get started on Bertuzzi and his missing intensity...
The NW division this year is looking more like a crap shoot to me, now.

something about fans from opposing teams showing up and voting against their teams makes me uneasy. So I'll counter it with a 5-4 nucks prediction.

Seems like every year the Wings start hot and then have an absolute dud in game 4 or 5. I think they did that vs LA in 03. I would also worry that Manny is getting overworked, two back to backs in less than a week. I'd like to see Howard in there tonight because of this. I love Manny, don't get me wrong, but I don't want to see him get tired out. We need him sharp.

Has anyone else noticed that there are two 1pm games today? WTH is up with that? This isn't baseball, I can't see either game drawing a decent crowd.

Haven't been able to see any teams other than the Wings thanks to Comcast screwing up my Center Ice deal. Curious to see how the Wings perform when someone actually competes with them on their level. The Canucks have the best offense of any of the teams the Wings have played so far...should be a good test.

Wings 4 (Datsyuk, Lang, Holmstrom, Draper)
Canucks 3 (Bertuzzi, Salo, Carter)

Still, what a lame holiday to scheduletwo 1pm games on. On the bright side it'll give me something to listen to while I'm at work

Ok, time for Drapes to step it up tonight. He had a strong preseason but so far in the real games has been held pointless and is a team worst -2. This is a big game, here's hoping Kris gets it going.

the odds of naslund and bertuzzi not scoring on markannean (sp?) in a shootout are so low but look what happened.....lost money on that too
