Does Nygren have anything else in his toolbox? Or is he only a one trick pony like MAB?

I don't think he'll be a MAB clone as his defensive game while not great isn't bad and he will take the body. He needs to be paired with someone that is solid in their own end though.

So he is a non-physical dman who is average at his position but has a canon of a shot. Can he at least create offense? Or not stuggle to take the puck out of the D-Zone?

By the sound of it, he doesn't really have many valuable skills for an NHL team. Makes me think a lot of Yannick Weber.

not non physical, he will take the body for sure, I don't think he's average at his position overall as he's been the Dogs best D this year before getting injured. Yes he can create offense for sure. He's a lot better then Weber imo, this year he was on pace for 50 pt season on a team that struggles to score.

MAB was still a serviceable NHL player for many years. He wasn't a good player, but I hate it when people brush off guys like MAB as if any AHLer could be better than him.

Same with Weber, he's been in the NHL for many seasons now. Sure, he's a fringe player, but it is a lot better than most prospects will ever amount to.

Nygren performed best of all the guys who ended up in Hamilton, imo (Tinordi and Beaulieu included).

The comparisons to Weber/MAB are so far off it's amazing that I'm reading them from people who (I think) are being serious.

What is his injury? How much longer is he expected to out?

I'm the only one who compared him to Weber and i've specified I never saw him play. I'm trying to find comparisons with what I've read so far. Not sure what's wrong with that.

Aside from the method and conclusion, nothing.

the habs management told the Dogs play by play to stop giving injury updates last season, so there's been zero word on why he's out of the lineup. I know Nygren posted on twitter that he was close to returning but that was weeks ago.

I think Seb meant he was a lot like Shea Weber, it's only a typo from his, no need to flame him for that.

Did not see him much, but looks to me like a right handed Ron Hainsey: he's got skill, he's got size, he's got speed, maybe he'll find a will.

MAB has almost 500 NHL games and 235 points. I doubt Nygren reaches those levels.

MAB had to let a lot of teams down defensively to generate those 235 points. I'll take half the points and a stronger team defensively instead, thanks.

MAB AHAHAH

Without his shot I don't think he is even an AHL Dmen, normally small offensive players can move the puck really, have a decent hockey IQ, this guy was as bad as Hal Gil with the puck, couldn't move it, and when he did they were stupid players.

But man that shot was UNSTOPABLE.

Magnus Nygren signs with Färjestad (Sweden) (1 year)

just read on Aftonbladet (Swedish newspaper) that Nygren has signed a contract for next season with Färjestad.

No surprise, its kinda amazing that he even came back this season to play for Hamilton. Would have love to see our PP with him and Subban.

We need to qualify him and trade his rights out west. Just keep him the **** away from Detroit or Ottawa. Sucks to lose such a talented player.

That's a big time loss. Whether for us, the Ice Caps or maybe more importantly, as a piece in a trade. Not sure what went wrong there....

Good riddance - too bad we couldn't get something for him but he suffers from entitlement and homesick issues, his twitter escapades skiing and fishing when his teammates were battling for a playoff spot was the last straw for me, I'm no Dr Recchi but he quit on Montreal as far as I'm considered

Nobody ever goes on ski trips when they have a job they take seriously.

When they're too injured to do their job but can ski that's typically considered insurance fraud assuming he was collecting a paycheck
