The article didn't mention the second unit, but I hope it does not include Messier. Messier is still on of my favorite players, but nothing would make me happier then to see Messier accept a fourth line center position and PK specialist assignment. He would still easily be able to catch Howe (in points--not games played

I see Holik as a Joel Otto type player, and it will great to see someone in front of the net on the PP for a change. Too bad he doesn't have the hands of Tim Kerr.

A LOT of things would make me happier than having Messier as a PK "specialist". The best thing about Mark's lazy offensive zone penalties is that at least he's not on the ice to kill them.

True 'dat. IF Jackass MUST give Messier special team minutes, let it be on the 2nd PP unit. Messier has not been a strong PK player over the past 5 years. Not much has changed. The second unit will probably have Leetch, Lindros, Carter, and Rosie. Probably one of the M&M girls as well. The only thing that may change is if Leetch goes on to play w/ Kovie on the 1st PP unit and Poti moves down to the Lindros unit. Off course Jackass may use Messier instead of either Carter or Rosie as well.

Hey you never know, Slats might put Mess on the point instead of Mironov or Malakhov. Come on, who saw that shot he ripped on that 5 on 3? :p

I think we'll see Lindros on the top PP unit in place of Hlavac...

Havent seen it yet.... I'd rather just see them roll the Nedved then Lindros line on the PP. Let Holik take Kovy's spot while he plays the point.

Messier is a hell of alot better on the PP than he is on the PK at this point in his career.

Why would there be a change from the Hlavac/Nedved/Holik line with Poti and Kovalev on the points? Lindros' line (Carter and Rucinsky) have been out there when the above group wasn't. Unless you're arguing change for change's sake, I don't see why Sather would start mixing and matching those units right now--especially since the Nedved combination (with Holik at the net and Kovalev on the point) worked very well in the pre-season. If one of the players on each unit doesn't produce, then I could see Sather substituting either Lundmark (who had some success on the PP last season) or Messier out there instead. But, I really don't think that there will be wholesale changes from the combinations used during pre-season initially.

I disagree with the statement that Messier is better on the PP than the PK at this point in his career. I would like to see him concentrate on the defensive side of the game and that PK time will keep him in that mode.
