If the Caps are going to make a deal for a defenseman, it will be for a veteran who can jump right in and play big minutes and carry respect. He will be a player on a one year or last year of his contract. There are a record number of those players that will be gotten for a lot less than what the Flyers want for Seidenberg and will be much more effective in the short run than Seidenberg. Its a nice thought, but IF the Caps trade for ONE defenseman this season, it will not be another inexperienced player like Seidenberg.
