Why not? players like O'Neill were traded for a draft pick.
That wasn't a normal circumstance and you know it. O'Neill's brother had just died and he wanted to move home. The Canes arranged a gimme trade with the Leafs and everyone was happy. Under normal circumstances, it just wouldn't work.
Let me get this straight... Calgary's defence has struggled so far with the new rules and they've been taking numerous obstruction penalties that have led to goals being scored. They've looked fairly sluggish and poor in their own end so, *trumpet fanfare*, they sign Bryan Marchment???
I understand that he'll only be playing bottom pairing minutes but Marchment only adds another slow and penalty-prone player to the defensive core of the Flames. I definitely don't understand this move and I'm going to be screaming for blood if an Oiler goes down with a knee injury on Saturday...
the signing is that bad to me too, can only laugh at it, Marchment a big joke already and now will be a bigger one with the new rules
and as said above he can try if he can even catch up to anyone
It never stopped him from taking out Weight or Modano.
He's a useless pylon, agreed. He's a disgrace to the league, agreed.
I just don't see why you could possibly see any good out of this considering YOUR forwards will be going down his alley 8 games a year. I know I sure wouldn't want to see the Oilers pick up Marchment; heck, I wasn't happy at the idea of seeing Peca lowbridge a Flame 8 times a year.
This is a lose-lose situation for every single team in the Western Conference IMO. I almost hope he takes out a player and gets suspended for the rest of the season.
