He looks fine at U18 NT games though.

Is Rykov/ Volkov likely to make the WJC team next year? Who is the leader on defence for the 97s? I figured it was these two.

You mean leader aside from Provorov, right? From 97 born guys it's probably Rykov/Volkov/Sidorov, maybe Zborovskiy, although currently I don't think they'll make it next year.

I think that the 98 Sergachev is already better than any of the 97s (except Provorov).

I watch more Russian hockey than the average NA fan , but you guys obviously have a better feel for who the selection group favors ( Ivanyuzhenkov for ex on youth teams ). Nevertheless I will give it a shot but I have not seen everyone play :

Svechnikov-Letunov-Lazarev
Kaprizov-Kamenev-Guryanov
Kuzmenko-Kraskovsky-Dergachyov
Pilipenko-Fazlyeev-Korshkov
Lauta

Provorov-Sergeev
Dervuk-Sharipzyanov
Khalikov-Shchukin
Rykov/Nazarkin

Samsonov
Georgiev
Trushkov

This looks sensible to me. It remains to be seen, but I think Sokolov will be there. He outscored Kaprizov and Guryanov considerably at the 5-Nations. Incredible shooter.

Meanwhile Bragin's team won the 4-nations tournament and looks like already some interesting lines produced there:

Zhdakhin-Zhelezkov-Khairullin
Vovchenko-Svetlakov-Pilipenko

Both Zhdakhin (who became top scorer of the tournament) and Zhelezkov already have some VHL experience, so I hope that's a sign that VHL is starting to make bigger impact to Russian player development system.

Of course it's too early to judge, but didn't we say something like that about Fischenko and Leschenko only half-year ago?

My forward list is almost exact same except I project 6 lines so in addition I also have Tyanulin, Vovchenko, Svetlakov, Trenin, Nikolishin and Kaurnakov. I manage a spreadsheet for a depth chart based on how the guys are performing during the season. I think all of the mentioned guys above will be invited to the various pre tournament events. Hoping the summer exhibition series takes place again like last year.

On defense I also have Zbrovsky and Boikov who is now the #1 defenseman in Drummondville. I've heard very good things from Boikov's play in the Q this past season. Overall, looks like another all round, very strong team.

It has been said 100 times that NA guys wouldn't play in U18 team

Yeah, didn't notice them. Anyway, they're well known players to Brugin, but what looks more important to me that there are some really unexpected names (Georgiyev, Nekolenko, Korostelev) in that list.

Here is the list for friendlies in Canada on 2-8th August.

Goaltenders: Aleksandr Georgiev (TPS), Maksim Tret'jak («Krasnaja Armija»), Aleksandr Trushkov (MHK «Spartak»)

Defencemen: Sergej Bojkov («Drummondville»), Il'ja Dervuk («Omskie Jastreby»), Nikita Zhul'dikov («Belye Medvedi»), Nikita Ljamkin («Kuzneckie Medvedi»), Aleksandr Mikulovich («Niagara»), Egor Ogienko («Krasnaja Armija»), Egor Orlov (MVD), Egor Rykov (SKA-1946), Dmitrij Sergeev («Kitchener»), Kirill Shhukin («Kuzneckie Medvedi»)

Forwards: Semen Afonas'evskij («Belye Medvedi»), Denis Gur'janov («Lad'ja»), Aleksandr Dergachev (SKA-1946), Egor Korshkov («Loko»), Pavel Kraskovskij («Loko»), Konstantin Kuznecov (MVD), Andrej Kuz'menko («Krasnaja Armija»), Nikita Kurakin (MVD), Artur Lauta («Omskie Jastreby»), Aleksandr Protapovich («Irbis»), Nikita Rogov («Chajka»), Andrej Svetlakov («Krasnaja Armija»), Evgenij Svechnikov («Cape-Bretton»), Radel' Fazleev («Calgary Hitmen»), Marat Hajrullin («Neftehimik»)

Samsonov is injured.

Bragin explicitely named omissions he made because he "knows the player's qualities already" which should be considered locks for the SSS at least.

http://www.sports.ru/hockey/1031368811.html

Lazarev, Nikolishin, Pilipenko, Provorov, Kamenev.

According to Bragin he will give more guys a tryout at a 4 nations tournament right upon return from Canada and after that form his SSS roster.

Why has he called up Dergachyov though? he too played at the WJC. Wants to see if his o-game has improved?

Decent team, looking forward for Kuzmenko to impress.

Bragin also mentioned Vovchenko as the omission.

Kamenev definitely won't be at the SSS, since he will play in AHL, hope that it can be arranged that he will be available for WJC.

I didn't found any information about Samsonov's injury, any link?
