one Penguin in there the entire time, Levy taking Olczyk as the Adams winner.

And yes, ESPN as a whole is in the dark ages when it comes to hockey.

Actually St. Louis is looking pretty good in the central. The Red Wings are not exactly the youngest team in the league and have some real question with their goaltender(s). Carolina has as good a shot as any team in the southeast of taking the division. But then again I am smoking crack because I disagree with you.

Defense wins games, no matter how old they are...the Red Wings have the best Defense in the West, BAR NONE, their forwards may not be the best in the league, but does it matter...oh yea and I'd take Hasek over Johnson and OsnotsoGood any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

St. Louis isn't so bad, but their biggest problem is leadership. From the coach down. I also don't think that Osgood is that bad. He's no Brodeur, but with the right people in front of him he can get the job done.

And, as much as I hate to say it, good defensemen DO NOT equal good defense. It's a team effort. That's something the Wings need to work on this season. As for cracks about age, let me watch a replay of Larionov skating circles around Carolina defenders in the 3rd OT of game three of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2002 before he scores the game winner...

Woah.. I like Tom already!

As for biggest homer, as honored as I would be, Kira takes it in a cakewalk.

Tom covered the Blues for a long time, so where's the love for the Note?

Where is St.Louis lacking in leadership? They have an excellent coach, a great captain in Al MacInnis, and 4 former captains on the team. One thing this team doesn't lack is leadership.

I'd take Hasek as well, but that doesn't mean Osgood can't get the job done. If he's *good*, and the defense (which is very good) holds up, the Blues have as good a chance as any of coming out of the West.

While I am a Sens fan, I find it hard to believe that they will win the Northeast division AND the Pacific division as Brian Engblom thinks. I think it's too much travel, and then you factor in the time zones....

M=G, if they can pull it off while you finally give the Sens the credit they deserve?

What? When did I ever show disrespect towards the top team in the East?

They seem to stray from their system in the post-season which reduces how effective they are. I also have to admit being biased against their former captain, who spends a lot of time trying to take people's heads off. I do think that making MacInnis captain was a good move. Perhaps, Weight could have been better (he seemed to do a good job in Edmonton) but either are better than Pronger.

Hasek is a huge gamble in my opinion. He hasn't played NHL hockey in over a year and there is no telling how he will re-acclimate himself this year. He could pick up right where he left off, but he might not.

The Red Wings are still one of the elite teams in the league, but you have to figure they will eventually start to show their age. BTW I was at that game and it was one of the greatest sporting events I have seen live.
