It's early but Danis could a #1 Goalie

I've seen yann play and warm up on a couple of occassions, he make's it look so easy...Being a goaltender myelf at one point in my life I learned not to overplay the puck...let the puck come to you and show no fear of it !! Don't be so concern with what's going on around you, just focus on the puck as if it's a little black fly coming from any direction. That's a goalies job...Yann does it very well, he's very calm and very sound. How did we get so lucky, to get this guy to come out of nowhere...Dryden .. Roy.. Is Dannis nx ??? My Habs..gotta love it !!!

im sure others were interested in signing him but montreal was probably his favourite team. he could definitly be a starting goalie and from what i saw yesterday he could end up being much better then Garon

Theo is a reaction goalie sort of like Hasek when he is on he is almost unbeatable. Danis is your more reliable technical goalie. I think Danis will be a great goalie because he makes you beat him with perfect shots. If Theo is on he can stop pucks that Danis probably will not but it's the if that makes Danis a great backup and a future #1 maybe not here in Montreal but some other team.

I think with a good team you can win a cup with Danis style of play but he will never steal a cup like Roy could.

Give him some time...I'm happy his first game went well, but I don't expect miracles

I'd rather see him play most of the games in the AHL than sit on the bench anyway.

Jim Carey...not the same style of goaltender as Dannis. Jesus I hate talking about Boston...anything. The only thing I ever liked about the B's was Ray Bourqe (spelling)....he should have been a hab..one of us...class guy

I think we could end up with another Theodore / Garon / Vokoun type situation with Danis / Price / Halak. Not to mention Heino-Lindburg. I'd think that if Danis were to become a #1 goalie, it'd probably be outside of Montreal - simply because Price is more likely to become our future #1 after the Theodore era is over. Unless Danis is happy playing back-up to a younger Carey Price, he could be on the move a few years down the line... unless, of course, Price dosen't live up to expectations! Ahh who knows! Either way, we're pretty deep in goal.

Edit: If you want to talk about Boston's one-year-wonders, you can't forget John Blue! Is Raycroft the next Blue?

Montreal is to goaltenders as the Broncos are with running backs.

Oh god - I posted something yesterday saying that someone was going to proclaim him the next Roy based on one game... You guys are coming dangerously close!

I dont want cause a stir but this kind of post pretty much sums up the attitude of habs fans.

We are just as fast to say danis can be a #1 goalie as we are to say that Theodore sucks.

I just wish we would have more of a grounded stance rather than getting too high with the highs and too low with the lows.

I'm not crticizing you at all BTW. Your post is very fair.

Hey, maybe whenever Price makes a great stop or gets a shutout we can say 'The Price is Right!'

Sure Danis could be a #1 goalie someday. I'd think that the odds weren't changed by the one game though. If we were worried about losing when using the backup, well, there's one less game to worry about. That's about all that's changed.

I'm not gonna base anything I will say on that one game but Roland Melanson said he could and he's probably the best goaltender coach in the league, if not the world. LIke someone said previously, MTL is to goalies what Denver is to runningbacks, its the least of our problems and it will always be a very valuable asset(see Radek Bonk and Niklas Sundstrom).

One shoutout win and Danis is a number one goalie.
One loss in a fight and Ivanans is finished.
What else is new in Habland?

Since when did Rollie Melanson become the best goalie coach in the league, let alone the world?

Does Benoit Allaire know about this?

I would consider trading Theodore after this season and keep Danis. Providing a veteran goalie UFA is signed in case Danis can't handle the duties over 60 games. Just until Price gets here in 3 years.

Point of order: Lalime was undefeated in his first sixteen decisions, going 14-0-2. His longest winning streak over that stretch was six games.
