Question about Hemsky.

I picked Hemsky in my 1-year yahoo league.

My questions are, do you guys think he'll breakout this year? if so, what will his point totals will be like? will he pass 50 points? and is he playing on Edmenton's top line?

Thanks in advance

Yes, Yes, and yes.

I've been a season ticket holder for a couple years now and got to watch this guy play, he's the real deal, in fact, he even inspired me to have the name I do. Good Pick

I don't know, honestly he is a young player so 50 would be very good for him, but with the talent he has he really could be anywhere from 50-90. Tough call , but a good choice.

My best guess would be 65-70 points

My guess is he is a solid pick if you picked him for 50 points. He's going to get the powerplay time and top line minutes to get those points and he certainly has the talent. The downside (barring injury) has to be around 40 points.

I'm guessing he finishes with low 50's unless he surprises us a bit by actually putting the puck in the net a lot more himself. If he can break 20 goal mark, he could be a candidate for a 60+ point guy.

.

Thanks guys, and I'm very happy to have this kid on my team, I stole him from the later rounds and everyone in the draft had the eyebrows up and got pissed when I picked him because noone noticed him slip, I hope he'll just have a breakout season.

I think 50-60 points sound realistic, (even more if they play him with Isbister and Smyth, which they should) but I wouldn't be surprise to see Hemsky get more than 60 point.

I think he and the oilers will be pleased with a 50 point season, but I personally think he could get anywhere from 45-60.

The kid has everything, except for goal scoring confidence, but hopefully he picked some of that up from the end of last season to the beginning of this one.

There are a couple of keys for him.

1. Stay healthy. He has had a couple of minor injuries the past couple of seasons that have made him miss some time, nothing drastic, but if you miss 3 or 4 games because of a strained ab muscle, you won't be 100% for your next couple of games. Just that sort of thing.

2. Stay focused on defense. If the puck isn't working for him (which sometimes happens for stretches with young players), he needs to play well defensively during that time, or else he could end up in the pressbox for a few games, or even dropped down in the lineup a couple of lines.

3. Don't stop trying to create. He can't get frustrated if he loses the puck, or the passes are a little off. He is a great player because he is always trying something, and if you take that out of his game, he isn't nearly as good.

I thought that Hemsky was slated to start on the second line, with York and Chimera? 1st line is Smyth/Isbister/Dvorak, I believe... Just a minor quibble...

I got him in both my Yahoo pools around 8th rd. i think he is a solid bet for 50-55 but the upside is that if he puts it all together he could move that total up to 70+ and i don't think it would be shocking.

To me there is no number single number one line there. I'd call it 1A and 1B.

I have them both on my team

I personally think that Hemsky will probably do better then Zetterberg ths year, but it's a close call because if Zetterberg plays with Datsyuk then I think Z might just do better, but the thing is Z will most likely be playing on a different line.

Zetterberg will have higher +/- simply because of the team and the blueline and goalie out there - he isn't superior defensively, but his teammates are.
