I disagree, I think he is a great fighter and has been for the better part of a decade now, especially considering his size to most of the other heavy weights.

Peters practices boxing and is known to be a good skater and one hell of a fighter.

Todd Fedoruk practices Judo. Brashear is a good skater. Both are good fighters. Buffalo has a potentially good fighter on their hands, but don't go overboard in your accolades until he proves himself in the NHL.

great win by the Flyers!

I don't know but Hackett looked pretty good to me, I mean, I know it's only the first game but he made some big saves. Amonte also looked real good, seemed like he had a scoring chance on ever shift. Vandermeer and Pitkanen looked good too.

No, he's a smart player. He didn't drop the gloves. He got the green rookie to take a dumb penalty. Great game, didn't see like we really got it going till mid way through the second period. Amonte is just chomping at the bit...everyone looked good.

I remember saying "Call me crazy, Hackett will have a good showing tonight."

I guess I'm not crazy. He's got a sweet goalie mask with Parent, Hexy and Lindbergh on it along with Rocky.

no, brashear didn't drop them was becuase he was scared to lose a fight on home ice. Brashear isn't smart enough to think about making a rookie take a penalty instead. hacket wasnt even tested, your defense just played extremely well.

Is it just me or do you guys now feel confident when the opposition is in our zone. Hackett can definitely Hack IT. MAn we looked great today...and cudows to Amonte for all the scoring chances he generated. We got a great team by the looks of it fellas and let's hope we can keep up at this pace. Hackett shows true class putting our top goalies on his mask. We could have won this game 6-0 and it looks like Williams is going to have a breakout season.

Don't be a sore loser. The game was 0-0. Drawing a penalty was the right thing to do. That it was a 4 minute was extra sweet. Of course, the Flyers didn't convert on the man advantage, but regardless of that Brashear made the smart play. Roenick did the same to Drury later in the game.

Great win tonight. The PP won the game, a pleasant surprize, and the team didn't really seem to miss a beat after Primeau was tossed. Miller looked really good, Hackett was flawless. Pitkanen is huge, and at times--more importantly, the right times--he seemed like a 4th forward. Sure, it's only one game, but for many of us it was our first look at him and it was a good one. Vandermeer very quietly played a very nice game, played some rock solid defense and played the body well. Very encouraging start to the season.

I agree.

I am also wondering if it looks like were going to still be in "nowheresville" like some others have posted on this board. I know it's only one game but it doesn't look that way to me.

BTW, we also played without LeClair.

I am a big fan of Jeff Hackett, especially after meeting him in Boston, let's not forget that t his guy had the starting job in Montreal before he got injured and Theodore came in and stole it. He is technically sound and that is enough for us to go pretty far. We don't have to rely on our goalie to win us games, we play good enough defence to cover, all we nee dis a guy who can control rebounds, handle the puck, and cover his angles. And we have that in Hackett.

I really like Hackett's mask, honoring Parent, Lindberg, and Hextall, and with Rocky on the back of it, very classy and a good way to buy some support from the fans too.
