Colorado/Minnesota Game Thread

Since nobody is going to make a game thread, I will.

The pre-game ceremonies have started.

Same lineup as the game against St Louis except Svatos (shoulder) is replaced by Bates Battaglia.

Somebody from the Avs no talent, no nothing, bottom six scores the first goal.

Nikolishin gets his first goal as an Av.

Nikolishin is certainly back to his normal self after a poor year last year. He's the best third line center the Avs have had since Ricci imo. Wins face-offs, great defensively, and has enough talent in the offensive zone to be worth keeping an eye on.

Avs picking things up after a sloppy start to the game.

Is it just me, or does it look like a lot of people stayed home to watch the ALCS tonight? I know I am going to be doing some switching back and forth.

Actually...I think those empty seats are people wearing some sort of free red Wild shirt upon closer inspection

Avalanche are being killed in faceoffs...2 for 14, 14%. Hope that improves.

Niko and Cody with a very impressive shift. Third line looks better than the first two right now.

McCormick in the box for slashing, Minnesota ties it up as Daigle gets the goal.

38 seconds after the Minnesota goal, Forsberg puts the Avs up 2-1.

Nice goal by Foppa to settle the puck down by slightly kicking it and tapping it in.

The third line contributing to two of the three goals tonight.

If Battaglia can revert to his 2002 form...combined with the additions of McCormick, Nikolishin, Liles, and Svatos when he gets back...the improvement in the quality of depth is hard to describe.

For Minnesota...Daigle looks dangerous and fast everytime he gets in the offensive zone and Burns is tremendously impressive for a lanky 18 year-old.
