I think it should be mentioned that this was Sutter's plan from the beginning and a plan to take the younger players tot he next step.

He believes that the real leaders (Lowry, Conroy, Gelinas and Yelle) will lead anyways regardless if they have the C or an A, whereas he thinks it helps a young player take on added responsibility, making their game improve (Chris Pronger would be an example).

I think its a good move, Regehr would have been the only other candidate IMO.

I would have liked to see Yelle as an assistant. Although I'm satisfied with who Sutter picked. Also heard Conroy "gave" the C to Iggy any truth to that?

From the sounds of the article at nhl.com that sure is what it sounds like.

A while back, an article at Calgarypuck suggested that Sutter was "feuding" with Conroy & Gelinas. Any substance to this rumor? (Sorry for not being able to locate the article. They don't have a search feature. If anybody else knows the article, in question, please post a link.)

I've seen zero evidence of this. In fact Sutter has been raving about Conroy as of late.

Yep. See the Sun or Herald articles today for the full story.

Iginla is not a "HOMIE". He is a professional, well spoken, respected athlete, and he does not speak "street rat" like you do.

About time, Iginla deserves it. I think he'll flourish with the new role. Conroy seemed to be distracted by it last season, although it says a lot about the man's character when it was him who took Jarome aside and insisted that the young superstar was ready.

I was all ready to write the Flames off this season, but I think they could possibly compete for a playoff spot if everyone stays healthy and Turek returns to the form he had in his early St. Louis days. Of course, they're going to have a rough go at it with Rhino hurt, but he should be back soon.

Good luck to the Flames.
