BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, October 17, 2005 (QMJHL) – Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward Maxime Boisclair and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles goaltender David Davenport were named offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from October 10th 16th.

The Chicoutimi left-winger has now won the award two consecutive weeks. In only two games, Boisclair totalled five goals and four helpers, while notching both game-winners. His scoring push has enabled him to take the QMJHL scoring lead with twenty eight points. Against Quebec on Saturday, he scored four times, while netting a career-high seven points in a 9-1 thrashing of the Remparts. A day earlier, versus Drummondville, he opened the scoring with a little over four minutes played in the first period to lead his team to a 4-0 win.

Since the beginning of the season, Chicoutimi has managed to average a league leading 5.1 goals per game, tied with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Their next game is tonight at home against Gatineau, whose next goal will be the frachises' 10 000th.

Chicoutimi is awesome this year. If I could speak a word of French and afford gasoline in Canada, I'd go see a Sags game..

I don't have a lot of contact with the LHJMQ down here, so forgive the ignorant question, but who has a problem with Maxime Boisclair in the Q, and why?

i don't think anyone is really hating on him. the knock against boisclair that will hurt his pro game is his poor skating. the guy can shoot the lights out but he needs work on his skating. he also tends to put up alot of his points on the PP (33 of his 51 goals last year were PP goals), which some people will obviously say, "well anyone can score on the powerplay, lets see him do it 5-on-5, etc...). people just find ways to rag on good players. that's what people do.

Boisclair in Traverse City with Tampa Bay

I saw him in Traverse City with Tampa Bay at Detroit's Rookie Tournament and he looked out of place. In addition to his skating, his thought processes looked to be as slow as his foot speed. Also, he had trouble with the size and quickness of the "d" that were there. He is off to an amazing start however (2 more goals last night).
