What do we need another forward for? Sure it might be an upgrade on Lundmark, but defense is a more pressing concern I'd imagine.
We have enough Defensmen, we still have Pock and Lampman who some could say are pretty much NHL ready (though not me with Lampman) plus a lot young defensemen who should make the Rangers team in the next few years (Baranka, Sauer, Staal, etc). We need more depth on offense.
Yeah, well I imagine he'll get his chance in the next few games although I doubt anyone comes out after yesterday. Perhaps they play Prucha once more and then send him to the minors...who knows.
Prucha sent down? Why the hell should he, he's been one of our better forwards. If anyone sits its Ward the last two games he's been invisible. Scratch him for a game and let Taffe get a shot. And what about Federov, we should give him a solid look too.
Just reviewing the Rangers Depth Chart & the Coyotes' Depth chart and it looks as though we have even forward depth. Taffe might be able to step in as in LW if theres an injure, Immonen can step in at C, and Fedorov can step in at RW.
Ward has been invisible yeah, so if anyone sits its him.
Don't mess with whats working, though.
Ward has only been invisible in the box score. If you actually watch the games, he makes big play after big play in the neutral zone...constantly stepping up, intercepting passes, and starting the play back the other way. What's the latest on Moore's condition?
You kinda figured this was coming. I liked Lundmark, I really did, but it just wasn't working out for him in New York. Whether it was the pressure of the Big Apple or something else, he badly needed a change of scenery. I knew this was the type of deal the team was going to make, deal Lundmark for another young player with skill that also needed a change of scenery, much like the Balej/Fedorov trade. I even mentioned in a previous Lundmark thread, and someone else did as well, that Taffe or Kolanos would be the type of players to expect.
I liked Lundmark ever since he was drafted, he's a great kid with a great personality. Would've loved to see him flourish in New York, but some things just happen for a reason. I wish him the best of luck and Phoenix and really do hope that he becomes a great player.
As for Taffe, he's got a lot of skill and potential as well, just hasn't put it all together yet. Maybe the change of scenery will help him. Not sure who will sit so we can give him a tryout but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Lundmark's welcome had worn out a while ago. Can't say I'm that jazzed up about Jeff Taffe (he's shown about as much in his pro carrer as Lundmark has) but I can't imagine getting anymore than him for Lundmark. At the very least the guy is big and, aparently, has some skill. Here's to hoping a change of address does them both well.
does anyone know how he played in camp this year? My guess is that he didn't wow them that much (the guy was just traded) but you never know, from all reports Hossa played well in camp before the Habs traded him.
