Al Strachan fired by CBC

Bout damn time somebody stood up to this guy....got on "their nerves"

Quote:
QUOTE
AROUND THE HORN: Al Strachan, the man conspicuously absent from the first two installments of Satellite Hot Stove Lounge, has been let go by Hockey Night in Canada. Sources say the controversial Toronto Sun hockey writer simply grated too much on CBC Sports boss Nancy Lee. Sources also suggest some of Strachan's favourite targets like Gary Bettman and Brian Burke pressured the CBC for years to have the decidedly 'pro-player' writer removed. He's been replaced by Canadian Press scribe Pierre LeBrun the last two weeks

No loss here. Al Starchan only talked about east coast teams (and usually the Flyers) on his little rants, anyway. Does he realize that 80% of America DOESN'T live on the east coast? And doesn't care about the Flyer/Rangers?

I hope they replace him with someone who goes around the various teams in the NHL to find stories.

Now if they could only find a way to but he and Larry Brooks together in a media vacuum on an island sports reporters would be a little more respected

I've always listened to the Hot Stove to hear actual news, not to hear guys blow steam and vent on their rant-subject du jour. To that end, I much prefer LeBrun to Strachan.

Ok TSN, take note and fire Glenn Healy!
As much as Strachan annoyed me, his arguments had a little more substance than anything Healy has argued - I'm still waiting for Healy to resort to "I know you are, but what am I?" when he's getting trounced in a conversation.

If they fired Glenn Healy...what would people complain about?

ditto on al.

seriously, if you've got four dudes talking about hockey and they end up having personalities resembling that of a stick, then what's the point? al strachan at least made things interesting and garnered attention. i guess he just went a little overboard to the point where he wasn't allowed back.

It's too bad because as much as I hate his "sliminess". I really do respect Strachan's mind and thoughts about hockey. He never backed down from Bullies like Cherry, Burke or Quinn. It's funny that a little geek like Betteman would get the job done that Burke tried to do for many years lol.

I hope TSN hires him for thier version of a hotstove lounge because he was the most interesting of the crew. I do like Davidison better though

Was it me or did Healy go off on Cechmanek again last night during the Bruins-Habs game? I stepped away from the TV for a bit, but I thought I heard him yapping about Roman again. If they don't fire Healy, maybe they should fire his bootlicking sidekick James Duffie and replace Duffie with someone with a pair of gonads to stand up to Healy and call him on all his BS.

Good riddance to bad trash. Strachan is an embarrassment to humanity. His campaign of misinformation during the lockout couldn't have been more obvious and he consistently and constantly made up trade rumors and "issues" without any basis in fact.

The slipper my dachshund ripped apart would have been a better choice for the Hot Stove than him.

Forget the slipper - I want the dachshund! Those weiner dogs are like the midgets of the canine world - just can't get enough.
