It would be great for him, I hope he doesn't re-injure though

Yeah I don't think the Jets would be crazy about the idea of him playing in the worlds?

I wonder if they would be interested in the myers/worlds deal simply as a true stress test to make sure the dude holds up.

If he is going to break there then he would break a few games into next season anyway, maybe even in TC.

I don't think his slow recovery is enough to warrant the 'career ending' exemption but - is it enough now, finally to warrant exposing him in the XD? Would Knights want to risk taking him over whoever is the next best Jet available in spite of his injury history? JMO but I think they pass. Of course the Worlds could change that. That alone might be a reason to keep him out of the WHC.

Buff
Enstrom
Trouba

Wheeler
Little
Scheifele
Perreault
Lowry
Copp
Armia

LV's choices would seem to be Myers, Dano, Matthias. Pretty easily Dano I think.

Edit: Considering age and contract status it could easily be Dano anyway.

Why would you protect Copp over Dano though?

What is up with Myers ???- I Wonder ???

What are the Jet's doing with Myers, setting him up as bait ?? for Las Vegas to take, knowing his injury is a lot worse than they say. Why would they show him skating around and have him say he's just about ready ??? I do wonder what's up with Myers and the way the Jet's are dealing with his situation. Maybe they will expose him, and get rid of a guy that really has serious doubts- long term, as a player. Las Vegas could easily take the bait, if he was indeed a "high risk " selection.

The Jet's would have known his groin injury has not healed enough for him to get in games-so why the big show ??? Makes me think the Jet's are going to expose Myers in the expansion draft. Hope not !!!

Note- I'd love to see Myers back, as he's dynamite, and a great defenceman when healthy. They need him, and I hope to see him play next year. Add Kyle Connor to the Jets, and U have an offensive powerhouse.

I think something is "fishy" here ????

Fair question. I don't want to keep a winger over a C? I want to make LV's decision easy? Switch those 2. Does LV take Myers now?

The point is just that I'm starting to think that Myers' injury scares them off. Pretty speculative, I admit but might be a good gamble.

Lots of talk of Myers over many threads other than his own. No ones written here since April. Thought I'd throw this thought out there.

Myers has needed surgery for years. Why was this the season to get it done?

Was it perhaps to have a healthy Myers available for trade this year?

If so, did missing this season to get healthy increase or decrease his value?

You could argue he's in the best shape in years, but one could rebut "what has he done lately?"

The Jets certainly don't need all of Myers, Trouba & Byfuglien & each come with their own set of intangibles. Myers health, Trouba's commitment, Byfuglien's full NTC expiring next season...

I highly doubt all three are still here once the 2018-2019 season begins. Someone's getting traded in the next 14 months.

He got his surgery last off-season. He was supposedly fully healthy to start this season. He played 11 games and suffered an unrelated injury. You may choose not to believe they are unrelated but that is what we have been told. The surgery was a hip. The injury was a groin.

Everything comes down to Trouba if they extend him then Myers is Traded IMO......if Trouba gets traded Myers may last longer here. I don't mind Tyler but I think he is the odd man out on the right side if Trouba is extended.

Most likely but .....
If Myers stays healthy - and presumably plays well, and if Trouba signs long term, and Buff has another season like last year .... could Buff be the odd man out? Just wondering here. I really expect a better season from Buff with less TOI - but he was not at his best last year, in spite of scoring 52 pts.

I'd love Buff to become the odd man out. The Jets biggest problem has been penalty killing & who has leads all NHL defensemen in minor penalties for the last 3 seasons?

2016-2017 Dustin Byfuglien #1 with 40
2015-2016 Dustin Byfuglien #1 with 47
2014-2015 Dustin Byfuglien #1 with 42

Cumulatively over these seasons it breaks down
1. 128-Byfuglien
2. 113-Phaneuf
3. 82 Subban
4. 79-B. Smith
5. 77-Doughty

These numbers regress to 65 minors or less by the time you'd get to the 24th defensemen on the list, so Byfuglien puts the Jets a man down nearly twice as often as nearly every other defensemen in the league.
