Lol a petition won't work. Maybe if we got the players themselves to demand the change . Aka if they get lucky with them.

But i digress, that is one sweet logo and colour scheme. I'm going to buy a vintage anyways but it would be amazing if they'd switch permanently. I just don't like the logo.. it's looks like crap and it's corporate. It's like getting a really detailed tattoo that just doesn't look good. now we're stuck with it. Thanks orca bay

This town is rabid about hockey(as they will be this coming playoff seanon x5.. it's the 12 year rule and can't you feel it?). If they switched they would have no problem selling jerseys and the old ones would be still be great.

I wish they could put a poll up on canucks.com... that would be interesting.

You've gotta be kidding me - another thread/posting/B.S. abuot changing the Canucks logo.
Can we not maintain an identity? Be consistent?
How about this: we've had our best teams ever while wearing this current logo - I'm not saying we're successful because of this logo, but at least we can associate the two.
The colors and the design and the logo work - leave it all alone.

I loved the way it was worded in the petition "It has been over 9 years since we have updated our look" - well, excuse them for not changing logos and colors completely every decade - maybe we should just change our names to the Vancouver Chameleons, and have the jerseys change themselves.

The current logo was in fact designed by a local (to B.C.) artist and it represents "where we're from" - this is straight from the '97/'98 Canucks yearbook - it is not a corporate logo.

Maybe I should start a petition asking them to never, ever change the logo or colors because most Canucks fans like it and it represents us well - they'll take mine before they take yours.

I like the whale; he's cute. And I also like the colour schemes too.

Is it just me noticing for the first time that when they advertise Canucks games on TV some of the teeth are missing on the whale logo... or has it always been that way? Kinda funny.

I also like the current logo & colours. It was the original & second logos & colours I didn't like. It was difficult for people to visualize the "C" formed by the rink & stick logo and blue, green & whitre are kind of dull colours together in my opinion. The red, yellow & black of the next uniform attempts were lively colours, but the team's use of those ended up so bad the fans referred to the uniforms as Halloween costumes.

Had the team agreed to buy out the Thunderbird name & logo rather than keep the Canuck name when the team entered the NHL, I think we could have come up with another a good uniform & logo, but the team didn't. The old Johney Canuck logo I though was even better than the rink logo the new NHL team chose, but old Johney Canuck logo was vetoed by the NHL because it was too complicated & the marketing firms of the era convinced the NHL that it would be too costly to reproduce. The current logo may be associated with Orca Bay, but it is also a good representation of one of the more prominant west coast animals & also of west coast native art. I'd be sorry to see it changed.

Has the logo been changed yet?

I mean, it's been almost a full day with the petition and all.

The whale in the logo has nothing to do with the city and everythign with Orca Bay sports. Having a whale as our logo is similar to Detroit changing their logo to an unemployment line.

I am also dissapointed in how this city always gives so much effort to having the aboriginal culture so excacerbated when this city is much much more than that. We have more cultures to show than just the aboriginals, who aren't a big part of the population nor the city. It makes us look like a small time backwater town than a major modern metropolis.

I LOVE the vintage jerseys! The colors and the logo are by far the best. The white is just so crisp but I highly doubt there will be a change although I would welcome it.

That's my attempt at it. I'm sure a professional designer can make it better looking but the concept is what I'm trying to get across.

It'd look a whole lot better than that stupid whale ...
Those jersey's are beautiful. Real classy. I'd even be in favour of the old skate jersey with the same or different colour schematic. I just can't stand the whale jersey, its one of the worst in the NHL.

Anything that will get rid of what basically is a coporate logo (Orca Bay).

I can't tell you how many times (when I have tried to introduce Americans and other foreigners to the game,) I'll get the enevitable question: "so what kind of whale is a Canuck anways?"

Then call me dull. Because the current canucks jersey are terrible. and the old vintage ones are terrible too. The 90's version of the yellow and black's were really cool.

Let's get this clear - we're talking about the ones worn until the mid-1990s?

If that's the case, then I can't see what's wrong with a classic look with great colours. Call me dull if you want.
