Who is the ideal hockey player?

In all aspects - on-ice play, off-ice attitude, professionalism, salary, character, intagibles, skill level - etc..

Who would your pick?

Todd White or Mike Fisher would get my vote from the Sens.

Foward: Todd Bertuzzi
Defenceman: Scott Niedermayer

Bertuzzi gets the nod, because he is possibly the best foward in the NHL and has a dirt cheap contract.

Nieds gets the nod because he is by far the best Defenceman when you are talking about bang for your buck.

minus salary, mario and Gretzsky were always praised for their professionalism and attitude. never berating anyone, only dpeaking positivley and being kind. character wise, you wont find much better than those two. salary wise, if they were on the open market today...

I would also consider Forsburg. He leaves everything out on the ice.

On D, Maybe Al MacInnis or Leach to go along w/ Stevens.

Didn't Thornton do something to be taken off of the NHL 2004 cover?

Nicklas Lidstrom or Steve Yzerman...both of them are a class act for the Wings. But I also have to give some praise to Igor Larionov...what a gentleman.

I might be biased since he's one of my favorite players but... Vincent Lecavalier.

He's young, have fairly cheap contract, he's got size (he could add some pounds though), top-end talent, he's a classy guy, you don't see him getting in any trouble. He's very determinated too, he showed a hell of a lot of hustle on that superb goal last year when he was lying on the ice and still scored. I still remember the way he jumped on the board. He had an attitude problem he solved it with the coach, and everything went perfectly from there. I'd say he's the ideal player for me.
