Richard Zednik for a d-man proposals

I love Zednik but the play of Pleks and Perez on the top two lines leads me to think the Habs could fill a big hole on defense by using Zednik as trade bait. To get legitimate top pairing d-man I would be willing to give up Zednik plus Souray or one of the Habs top prospects. Any offers?

When Regehr gets back to playing (a week or so) the Flames may have to make a decision on the backend, now that Marchment is playing (has done very well so far).

Leopold - Regehr (solid tandum from last year)
Hamrlik - Phaneuf (great tandum from this year)
Ference - Marchment (has looked good this year together)
Montador

Now, Warrener could be an off man out. Yes, he brings alot to the Flames but the addition of Zednik could also mean an extra game breaker for the Flames as well.

What about a package trade. A 2 for 2 kind of deal, keeping the salaries somewhat equal.

To Flames:
Zednik + a #6/7 defenseman

To Habs:
Warrener + a role forward like Wiemer

Hmm. We want a Defensemen, not a 6-7 defensemen like Warrener...We're talking about Zednik, a guy who can play on top lines of every teams in the league.

OMG, if you truly think Warrener is a #6/7 defenseman you have no clue about him and should not post.

He's definitely not a top 2-3 guy, though, so Montreal wouldn't trade a first liner for him.

How about Kimmo Timmonen?

Warrener would probably be the Habs number 3 d-man, 4th at worst. I actually like the deal he proposed except for the Weimer part. I really don't see a role for him on the Habs.

On many teams Rhett is a #3 guy.

Ya, I wasn't quite sure what to do on both sides..aside from the Warrener/Zednik part. It could possibly go down as a 1 for 1 deal with minor evening.

Based on your proposal, I wouldn't mind giving up Streit as the extra d-man from the Habs. The Flames would have to add something to even it out.

Thinking it out, forgot that the Flames had Montador..we could just drop the extras and even it out with picks or something.

Yeah, he'd be one in Montreal too, but if Montreal's willing to part with Zednik I think they'd want a more solid #3.

Ideally, a guy like Warrener should be #4 on the depth chart.

I agree but the thing that separates Warrener from many #3/4 defenseman is his leadership. This guy was the leader of the Flames defense core last season. Now that the Flames defense are 2 years older, they don't need it so much. He is also great in the lockeroom as well. A true warrior.

I don't expect the Habs to trade this playoff clutch for nothing. There is a very nice spot just made for Zednick on Hab's second line, on the right side of Ribeiro. He is precisely what Ribeiro needs, and will enjoy going back on the right side (were he was playing before the arrival of Kovalev).

Therefore, don't expect the Habs to trade him for a D.

I agree with this FLAMESfan.....

........Warrener would be a welcomed addition to the HABS ( HE IS NOT A 5/6TH DMAN - WOULD BE OUR #3 ( behind Markov and Souray, IMO)......only thing is he would have to replace Rivet IMO ( and he would be an upgrade there!!) - trade could look likie this:

Warrener and McCarty

Zednick + Rivet

money for money - how does it look ? talent and need / team? opinions?

(........I know the FLAMES do NOT want Rivet, or if they do, they need to make another trade - but you are getting the best player in this deal = Zednick)

If SOURAY is included in this deal.......

Warrener, McCarty and Leopold

Zednick + Souray + Hainsey

comments?

McCarty has played very well. I don't think Sutter would trade him. I do like the deal, however, drop Hainsey (extra salary the Flames can't add) and replace with a pick.

Id do this in a heartbeat. Warriner to Rivet is a downgrade, but it wont hurt the flames deeply since thier so deep anyways.

Donovan replaces mccarty on the 3rd line and Nystrom on the 4th.

What Id prefer is

TO MONTREAL: RHETT WARRINER, JASON WIEMER AND 5TH RD PK.
TO CALGARY: RICHARD ZEDNIK AND CRAIG RIVET.

Zednik gives us the crafty euro LW we desperately need.

Won't trade Rivet, he's playing awesome right now and has the team best +/ -
We need Zednik, our 2nd line has been terrible so he won't get traded

......forgot to add that Leopold

...... is a lot more ready to work towards PP time than Hainsey.

sorry Hainsey would be my "must take" or Dagenais. He needs a change of scenery at your expense! How bad do YOU want Z?? You never know - he may surpass Leopold?

What about this.

Semenov and a second for Zednik

Any thoughts, a potential monster on the blue line and a pick for Zednik, or are you looking for immediate help.
