Well he is going to replace Heatley on the top line with Savard and Kozlov. The big question is how big a piece was Heatley to the success of the top line last year. If Savard(who was great in the preseason) and Kozlov can mesh without Heatley, I think McEachern is going to have a very solid year.
But keep an eye on him. If he struggles out of the gate with Koz and Savard, Hartely may juggle things up by trying anyone other than Ilya on that top line. Either way McEachern will be either on the top line, or playing with Ilya. Not a bad place for a veteran winger to be.
With Heater out, I think McEachern will be the teams most important player. Not only that he must keep this team together and focus for the season after the crash but he must produce at least 20 goals, 50 points for the year, so he needs to stay healthy. If we make the playoffs a huge reason will due to Shawn's leadership qualities.
