Oh get off your high horse. Just because you grew up in Canada doesn't make you any better a hockey player, or any smarter a person just because I was born and raised in Los Angeles.

Sorry I couldn't satisfy you Osprey. Maybe next time, but then you'll have to be wearing that little outfit again.

The fact you where born and raised in Los Angeles does not make any difference
it is that you can not see that Avery took a cheap shot at Gamache that could have ended his career. Defending him for this action cann't be accepted the officails seen the play in that he had time to let up so maybe they also don't understand hockey. Any hit from behind could be as serious has Bertuzzi's hit on Moore.

I somewhat agree with the major penalty (could have been a double minor because of the lack of injury), but it is not why Avery deserves to be suspended.

If you have access to a replay, check out what happens when Avery is climbing to his feet as the pile thins. As one of the linesman was holding him back, he twice swatted aggressively at the linesman's hands in effort to get loose so he could go after Perrault. When that didn't work, Avery tried to push his hands off of him.

This is abuse of officials, and if Avery's going to be suspended, that's why. The NHL doesn't mess around with official abuse, and Avery's already got so much heat on him that I'd be very surprised if he doesn't miss a couple of games.

I'm a huge Avery fan, well, at least on ice, but that is something that frankly deserves to be dealt with by the league.

Yes, seriously. Avery is one hell of a hockey player. His mouth leaves a whole lot to be desired, but just as many who hate Avery for his ethics somehow are blind to his actual ability, many of us who are fans are willing to let some of his verbal crap slide because of how effective he is on ice.

Your bias is unreal. Gamache turned his head before he got hit......and when he got to the bench he was laughing.
So I guess, Brad May on Matti Norstrom wasn't career threatening. Or Blake on Avery for that matter.

From my seats, it sure looked like Avery deserved the 5 and game misconduct

I really like Avery's play this season, but I have to admit that it sure looked like he dangerously cheap-shotted the Predators player yesterday. As soon as it happened I turned to the guy next to me and said, damn was that an ugly hit. I'm curious how it looked on TV, especially in replays?

I expect we'll see Sean suspended at least one game which, from my view of the hit, is just fine w/me- the league has to really show players that hits like that won't be tolerated, despite them having missed the boat when Brad May ran Matty from behind.

I'm a homer and all, but that just looked dangerous. It's too bad b/c he really is such a good player and only getting better. Good speed, has been showing some impressive offensive ability and obviously a world-class agitator. It just seemed to me this hit was a momentary lapse in judgment, though I respect he was trying to lay the body on the Preds to get the team back into a game they looked pretty listless in. Just seemed to kinda cross the line, from where I was sitting.

Thoughts?

From the replay I saw, Avery knew what he was doing. He saw that the Preds player was in a vulnerable position and decided to run him. Very unsportsmanlike. So the ejection was warranted...beyond that? I don't think he should be suspended.
The toss from the game was enough.

I'm glad there is a 2 ref system in place because of the number of people who are unable to see a hit from the behind that was bad enough to call it a major. Thank you NHL

Sean Avery The guy takes the same amount of punishment he dishes out and he knows it, that's why he never complains off the ice.

He's a warrior I'm just glad he's on our side. I saw the hit clearly from my seat and I think he should have gotten a double minor (maybe the 5 minutes that he got) and a 10 minute game misconduct but not a game misconduct Oh well...I'm just glad he got the W.

Attention everyone! Hockey is a rough sport! Players are skating around 100 mph out there so hits like this will happen. They've been happening for over 50 yrs now! Get over the Avery **** already. If you think he's actually out there to maliciously hurt someone you're smoking crack. It's violent just like other sports can be. He hits, so all of us can remember........and i'm still not complaining.

Avery should endorse his own line of clothing for the fans. He could make MILLIONS!

I love how all the proceeds are going to charity.

You can just see the haters' response if he was profiting from them
