Half Board

What is a half board? Where did Jack Edwards come from? Australia? Also, since when did goalies start using paddles?

a half board is what is found off the Great Barrior Reef when a Great White shark only eats half a surf board. The paddle is what Bruins goalies use because they are heading down a waterfall.

These aren't Edwards specific...

Half board is the area along straight section of boards between blueline and goal line.

Paddle is the wide lower end of the goal stick.

It's not a creek, it's a river.

"half board" is a fairly standard hockey term. Pretty much every announcer I've heard has used it at one time or another.

It a term like the slot and the point. It's sometimes called half wall too. You see Sergei set up there often and Joe has been making plays from there on the PP lately.

I think I heard Emerick on OLN a couple of weeks ago say a goalie made a save off his "waffle board." Haven't heard that one in a while.
