now that was a "true" edmonton oiler

there were many things that were going through my head as i just watched fuhr get 31 retired. and i dont want this thread to go into a "bach a certain player" type thread.... but it makes you appreciate players that care about their home team and their home city.... the last thing he said was that he hoped the oilers played well this season and could win another cup soon.... that really shows you how he feels about this team and this city.... some people would do themselves some good be learning a little from this man

That was something.

I was more moved by tonight than the 99 or 17 hoisting.

Goosebumps.

What a touching ceremony.

Tonight the Oilers proved they are among the classiest organizations in the NHL.

I loved it when the fans chanted "FUHR! FUHR! FUHR!"

I hope Comrie was listening to Fuhr talk about being home-grown, and nothing better than playing for the Oilers.

Did anyone else notice the pic of Fuhr wearing a Spruce Grove Mets jersey?

I don't remember Fuhr ever playing on that team, the only goalie I remember was Julian Beretta or some such. Maybe Grant was his backup?

They did that with Kurri too, don't know why. It will be over with the others by Saturday. It may just have been because the ceremony was at centre, and it would have been akward to raise it over there.

I think they wanted to ensure that the focus was on Fuhr's banner, alone.

I wish I could have seen it, but i'm sure it was quite moving. A total class act. I'm surprised no one posted these pictures yet, but enjoy all.

Grant just looked so nervous up there. I am sure he is very grateful, but also glad that this is almost all over now. Now he can start dreading his HHOF induction speech.

What a great ceremony. All kinds of class from the fans and organization.

Truly a great Oiler moment....
