Rumor: AL outfielder on postseason team tests positive for steroids

I dunno if it was already mentioned in the postseason thread, but regardless, I think it deserves it's own thread if it's true. I found these couple articles on PSD's forums:

http://deadspin.com/sports/steroids/...der-133398.php

http://journals.aol.com/dcsportsguy/...t/entries/2162

If true, it narrows it down to pretty much:

Jermaine Dye
Scott Podsednik
Aaron Rowand
Carl Everett
Vladimir Guerrero
Steve Finley
Garrett Anderson
Juan Rivera
Gary Sheffield
Bernie Williams
Hideki Matsui
Bubba Crosby
Trot Nixon
Johnny Damon
Manny Ramirez

My bet's on Steve Finley or Bernie Williams, although I'd find it quite funny if one of the first four was the one.

That would be classic. I would love to see how Selig and co. handled that.

I'd say it can't be Podsednik, but he did finally hit some HRs...

That's what I thought as well. Podsednik doesn't have the body of a guy who takes roids, but he all of a sudden had some power in the postseason.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Vlad Guerrero tested positive for an illegal substance, he did have that shoulder injury and might have taken something to make it heal faster, although I doubt if it was him. This whole thing is probably just a rumor with little truth to it.

Exactly what I was going to say. Finley and Williams weren't good, but they're both aging, both weren't playing well, and it makes sense that they could've used a boost.

For the record I wasn't being serious. I should have put the sarcasm smilie on the end.

If I had to put money on it, I would say Steve Finley.

For me, you didn't have to put a smiley. I knew you were being sarcastic.

I doubt it's an outfielder. It absolutely got to be David Eckstein.

My faith is sportsmanship would go out the window if it's Bernie Williams, Johnny Damon or Vladimir Guerrero. They seem like such stand up guys and I'd be shocked if they would cheat. But then again, I thought the same way of Palmeiro.

Agreed. I'd also be surprised if it was Matsui. On the Yankees I would guess Sheffield. Wasn't he already fingered by someone?

Please. Explain this one. Not only is Eckstein a shortstop in the National League, he doesn't have any power. He hit .294 with 8 HR's in the regular season, then .273 with 1 HR in the postseason.

So please. I want to know what "logic" you're using.

I think he was using the joke that flies over people's heads logic.
