But the undercurrent of off-ice uncertainty has done nothing to dampen players' enthusiasm for Nashville as an organization and a city. ....
Since new ownership took over in December, 10 players — almost half of the current roster — have signed new multiyear contracts with the Predators, with many choosing to forgo what likely would have been bigger offers on the free-agent market.
The players cite locker-room chemistry, long-term relationships with coaches and management, an affinity for the city and, ironically enough, stability, as some of the reasons for wanting to sticking around.
Uh-oh, players like playing in Nashville. Canada's going to explode!
New-look lines: The line combinations in practice aren't always used in future games, but there were some new combos on the ice Sunday at Sommet Center.
Jason Arnott was centering Vern Fiddler and Martin Erat; David Legwand was centering Steve Sullivan and Jordin Tootoo; Radek Bonk was centering J.P. Dumont and Joel Ward; and Jerred Smithson was centering Antti Pihlstrom and Wade Belak.
Trotz tried to change the team's fortunes by putting in Pekka Rinne after the third goal. Rinne let in four more scores.
"Dan has taken the brunt (of the bad luck)," Trotz said. "In the third period I even asked him, 'Do you want to go in for some work?'"
I read both articles. I'm furious that we are going to once again try these crappy line combinations that fail every time. I guess Bonk and Ward are supposed to get Dumont going. Meanwhile Fiddler and Tootoo are somehow supposed to learn how to play offensive hockey? Come on Trotz - don't be stupid. This is the 90000000 time you have tried this, and it has failed every time.
I guess it is possible, but he needs 256 more games to reach 1000. If he played all 82 in a season, he would reach 256 in his fourth year.....I guess it is feasible than Sully plays 4 more years at about 65 games a year, but it will be pretty difficult.
