No doubt he gets "elite goalie money" [currently $5.5-6.0 mill] when contract discussion time rolls around....and well worth every penny, IMO

I not ready to dish out that kind of money yet, especially for a long-term contract.

There are so few goalies who have mantained elite level play over an extended period (Broduer, Hasek among the few). I'd be hesitant.

We'll see what he does in the playoffs (hopefully). If he stumbles, we might be able to sign him to reasonable extention in the offseason. If not, we'll wait to see wait he does next season. I wouldn't be willing to pay him top dollar until the last minute, and we've seen further evidence that he can consistently maintain elite status.

It seems as though Nashville has emerged as the favorite to land coveted center Olli Jokinen. The Preds are eager to upgrade down the middle, where Yanic Perreault (knee) is expected to miss another month and David Legwand has yet to emerge as a front-line pivot. Furthermore, Nashville may be willing to part with youngster off their current roster while the Sens are only prepared to offer draft picks.

I would got to think Erat is the prime candidate with Hall being a distant second.....my biggest fear though is that it is Upshall as I don't think Trotz has ever truly been in his camp....and that would be a mistake, IMO.

all Hall is, is a big warm body who plays defense on his line, period nothing more and nothing less

he's on pace for 15 goals ... Radulov can score that in half a season ... buhbye Adam, it was nice knowing you

Not worth the paper it's printed on, but Eklund mentions us as a possible destination for Jokinen, though he puts Calgary as overwhelmingly in the lead...but he also mentions us for MIKE COMRIE. How many times are we going to be rumored to get that guy?

Besides, he's 5'10 and 170 pounds, why would we acquire another small--

--oh wait...he'll be "perfect for the 'new' NHL"

Sounds like a Poile player, he's as good as a Pred

It's not too late to beg Cliffy out of retirement, bring back Curtis Murphy and Frankie Boullion, and call up Darren Haydar for the stretch run. As geared as we were for the new NHL, we'll need this lack of size for the stretch run, when the game will really shrink.

Preds to choke hard (and I mean hard) and fall out of the playoff race according to Bucci. Apparently, a team like SJ is going to be 12-15 points better than us because not only are they going to pass us in the next 17-19 or so games, but they'll leave us in the dust by finishing 6th overall while we fall out. They ought to hang that up in the Preds lockerroom.

Some of his other picks are questionable too.

Personally, I'd rather him think we were chokers than to forget about us altogether. 'Tis better to have a bad hockey team than none at all. (Let me hear ya on this Winnipeg!). As a hockey journalist, Bucci is nothing more than a 4th line energy guy. He'll give you good solid effort and enthusiasm, but his attention to details and overall skills keep him from ever being more than that. Vernon Fiddler is to the Nashville Predators as John Buccigross is to NHL hockey journalism. You want him on your team, just not playing any substantial role.

Not only the Sharks but the Ducks too.

No Big surprise here ESPN signs his paycheck so he gets a large bouns on it if he hates the Predators.

that's no excuse, though. he was a "correspondant" for the Preds for a good while, and has always seemed fond of them.

Like I said...I can only think that this is a mistake.

But if he was a correspondent of the Predators, then he would be less likely to forget them right? And doing so would be less excusable than, say, a Toronto beat writer.

When you start comparing schedules and what it would take, I'm not sure I know what is the bigger error, excluding the Preds based on points or excluding the Preds based on forgetfulness.

It's been changed, folks. Here's what it says now:

Nashville vs. Colorado. This is a nightmare matchup for Colorado. Nashville is a great skating team, which has a really good goalie, making it a tough road game for opponents. This series is good news for Nashville and bad news for Colorado.

Why do visiting writers have to critize and/or mention the Predators' attendance if it's not a sellout and never say a word when it is?

Vancouver press are amazed that the Nuck's can possibly get beat by the Preds..
[URL=http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/story.html?id=5b546ab5-a2bf-4d27-b505-e70f898d04b2&k=416[/URL]

The Canucks today sit with 76 points in the standings and have 15 games remaining. They have lost five in a row and were trounced 5-0 by Nashville -- Nashville, for crying out loud -- in their most recent outing Tuesday

Looks to me they have lost six of seven, three times by the Preds, for crying out loud. Of course they can always hang their hat on the fact they outshot the lowly Preds in each game.....thus played better.
