I would have LOVED the Rangers to get Zdeno Chara. I think that guy could be as impossible to play against as anyone else in the league. I haven't seen how the new rules have affected his play yet, but I'm assuming the Sens don't have too much to gripe about these days.

He's scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season as is Wade Redden, I would think these would be the kind of players that might interest the Rangers, as we should have plenty of cap room and Ottawa's budget will be pretty tight especially with the big raises that could come with all their team and individual success they will have this year.

A few years back:
Mike Ricci
Rod Brind'Amour
Doug Gilmour
Bill Guerin

These days:
Kyle McLaren (I liked him when he was in Boston, but I've kinda lost track of him since he went to the Sharks, so I'm not entirely sure)
Sami Kapanen (the kind of player any team's fans can support)
Jere Lehtinen (could really have helped this team over the years)
John Madden
Brendan Morrow
For a different style of player, I've always liked Simon Gagné.
Sami Salo, just for that slapshot.

One player I wouldn't like is Darcy Tucker. He, Marchment and Hatcher are my least favourite players in the NHL. Spot the trend.

Chara would be great. So would Barrett Jackman. I consider them more in the star category though.

Rod Brind'amour. I've feared him almost as much as I've feared Lindros when Flyers were playing us. GREAT two-way center. Always wins battles for loose pucks. Scorer and checker.

Brendan Witt.

Mike York.

Sergei Nemchinov.

Before Holik signed with us and stunk it up, I wished for Holik to play for the Rangers.

Mattias Norstrom.

Adam Foote.

Islander's hated albino Blake. What a pest. What speed. Every time he touches the puck, I cringe in an expectation of some sort of damage. I really wish he was with us.

Niklas Sundstrom. I remember him riding a shotgun on Gretzky's right with Robitaille on the left. Good forechecker, good defensive forward.

Jere Lehtinen.

Mike Peca. Always wished he was a Ranger.

Bryan McCabe. Is he a superstar? I've mentioned him in a "Superstar" thread. But ever since his Islander captain days, I wished he was a Ranger.
