Joni Pitkanen on Fire?

He has 8 points in 4 games. I have not seen any of these games. Is he actually playing as dominant as his stats might suggest??

He has been dominant from the start of the season. Luck is only on his side now, but he played well, just like Johnsson, from the beginning of the season. Those points just had to come at one point.

Have liked Rathjes game more... Joni has made some bad plays, and looked really lost at times...

No, he has not.

In comparison to Rathje, he's virtually mistake free, and he's never looked lost. That's nonsense.

Hehe, guess you have missed him tripping over his own teammates a couple of times... And on the PP he overpasses a lot...

Watch Lidstrom every game, and he'll make a few mistakes too.

Right now, Pitkanen is playing extremely well. By far the Flyers best defenseman at this point.

I'm not saying your assessment of Pitkanen's play is ridiculous, just that it makes no sense compared to the others in this thread.

Seriously, Pitkanen has been great from the start and downright dominant of late. Has he made mistakes? Yep, just like every other player in the league. But the mistakes have been few and far between, and his stellar plays have far overshadowed the gaffes. The guy is averaging a point per game and is a +14 in 12 games. He just turned 22 and has a whopping 83 NHL games under his belt. Barring injury, this kid might snag a couple of Norris trophies before all is said and done.

Most swedes (dunno about Nacho though) doesnt have any problem with indivdual finnish players, it's when they put on the team Finland jerseys whe begin to "hate" them

Kapanen and Pitkanen are two of my favorite Flyers...

he struggled the first couple of games, but since then has been absolutely great. all over the ice forcing the play, making good decisions and showing incredibly recovery ability to get back on defense when offense gets broken up. he's built to play in this style of game...

How do you think Rathje would do, if his job was to 1) carry the puck 2) join rushes 3) create offense 4) improve power play?

I guess he would be as successful as Joni would be if he had to block shots, hit people and keep forwards out of the crease.

I'm not Flyers fan, but I hope they win the Cup in near future. I remember watching them in playoffs 2002 having unbelievable troubles scoring with a lineup full of great forwards. They scored 2 goals in 5 games against Ottawa. They had Johnsson, Desjardins, Weinrich, Therien, McGillis and Richardson as their d-men, and I think Desjardins had a off year offensively, so they had more or less four rathjes playing D. You need 3. I think Flyers' D is on right track now.

Rathje handed the game to Carolina. BrindAMours goal was heartbreaking. Rathje is no Pitkanen. Keep in mind the age difference.

I´m not talking about "non swedes", I´m talking about Finns!

There´s a huge rivalry, especially in hockey, and I wouldnt get cought praising one of them to save my life

Pitkanen should be traded for Belak

No, not really.

There is rivalry only in hockey. Outside that, most people don't give a rat's *** about how Sweden is doing relative to Finland. In fact, I don't know anybody who would care.

On a side note, it's good to see Lundqvist do well. You guys might have a shot at a medal in Turin.

Pitkänen has certainly exceeded my expectations. I didn't think that he would be so dominant so fast as dmen normally take more time to develop.

What's so funny about Rathje? He's a pure "defender"... Not like Joni that is more of a forward, wich will make more errors... Is it that hard to understand?
