Colorado - Chicago Trade Proposal

Blake and Aebischer for Cullimore and Khabibulin. Chicago unloads themselves Khabibulin's big contract for two players who don't have a deal extending beyond this season. Colorado nabs themselves a goalie I'm sure they would want and a nice defensive defenseman to boot though Bulin's contract could be quite burdensome for Colorado for a while. Nevertheless, this trade favours Colorado, so I'd add in a 1st round pick or Wolski if the Hawks can part with one of their rookies (like Bourque, Keith, or Ellison).

good...so this means I haven't over-valued the avs players in this deal. i honestly wouldn't give up wolski or the 1st rounder to 'even' up this deal. i just threw that in there to ward off any fanatics of khabibulin.

i think its intriguing to say the least, but bulin is over-priced for the next 3 years, but the avs will have the cap space with blake gone.

hasnt lacroix had a hard-on for bulin for about 3 years anyway?

anyways jeri we dont really need cullimore with our surplus of dmen so what about daze or barnaby instead?

So Khabibulin has been completely given up on, huh? Wasn't he like the best goalie in the league the past few years?

He has been at the bottom of the top 10 for the past few seasons and had one great playoff run. All while playing for a very good team. There is no point in having his huge salary in Chicago when we arent a contender and he is playing like ****.

Sorry Jeri...can't do that deal. Khabibulin is overpriced with a multi year deal and Blake is on the up tick right now. I know Lacroix wanted Khabibulin but not at 7 million per. I don't think you will see any Avs get a deal like that with the current salary structure...unless Luongo comes to Denver.

In your opinion, maybe.

If I'm Chicago I do this without hesitation.

If I'm the Avs or any other team in the NHL I don't take Khabibulin under any circumstances because that was the dumbest, most inflationary signing of the offseason, and I want to make Chicago pay for that mistake for the next 4 years.

Blake is finally starting to come around and now you think we're going to trade him for an overpaid goalie who is playing terrible right now?

Not a chance.

Khabby isn't playing well, but his numbers are more of a result of a HORRENDOUS Chicago D. I'd love this deal, Blake Aucoin would be a great top pairing. I'd be more then willing to throw in a solid D prospect like Babchuk as well.

if this were 2 weeks ago, most Avs fans would probably do it. Blake has picked up his game, Khabibulin hasn't, and this doesn't help our cap situation enough to warrant trading for a cold goalie.

Personal opinion:

1) 'Bulin wall was and is a great goaltender. Has struggled so far in Chicago, but will turn it around soon. At the end of the day, Chicago will have themselves a great number one goaltender.

2) Regardless of how good or bad the Bulin wall plays, that contract is not tradeable.

3) Chicago has an excellent collection of young forwards, and some stud prospects on defense. I think this team is going to make some noise soon.

No thanks.

And for the record, I wouldn't have done it two weeks ago either.

Statistics are a HORRIBLE way to gauge the quality of a goaltender.
