Went with Creeping Death, just cause it is such fun to scream DIE, when they play it live.

That, and I think it is a kick arse song!

2nd: Fade to Black

Easy pick with Fade to Black.

Ride the Lightning and Call of Ktulu come in second and third respectively.

Voted Creeping Death but they are all up there. One of the best albums ever. Unlike Kill Em All this one has some variety to the songs, Fade To Black, an Intrumental, For Whom The Bell Tolls is a different king of song. Kept their thrash sound, but grew a lot with this album.

I'm not even voting. I personally find Metallica extremely over rated.

Yeah anything from the Black album on is some seriuos sellout crap, but 80's Metallica, Kill Em All to Justice is maybe the best stretch of Metal albums ever.

Kill Em All is good and ...And Justice For All has a few good songs. But still very far from "best stretch of metal albums ever". A very good stretch, yes. Best ever? No.

So who had the best stretch of metal albums, in your opinion?

You say, "very far from the best stretch" ...so there must be quite a few.

He's probably gonna spew some garbage like Carcass or Cannible Corpse or some lame death metal crap that you can't make heads nor tails of.

Yeah, I was thinking Maiden would give Metallica the best competition. Lots of great stuff ...but I still prefer the Metallica albums. Maiden could quite possibly be 2nd for me, tho.

I just find those early Metallica albums to be the perfect mix of pure/raw aggression (which to me, is what metal is all about) and just great musicianship/songwriting. Their riffs were just so powerful and memorable. Like, for example, the opening riff for Trapped Under Ice ...that just oozes power. Or even Sad But True off the Black album ...talk about a heavy kick a$$ riff ...and one that ya don't easily forget. Their sound was amazing, imo ...the epitome of metal. They made thrash, which had a very limited and underground audience back then, popular ...all because of the great songwriting (I still own the original Megaforce albums of Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning, btw ...back when they were basically unheard of and before they signed with a major label ). People had no choice but to take notice ...they were just too damn good. They were head and shoulders above any other band of the same type at that time, and spawned so many cheap knock offs that it became funny. Metal just didn't get any better, for my tastes. They defined it.

They could write a great ballad (if you can call it that) like Fade to Black ...and then switch it into the realm of pure speed/thrash metal with something like Fight Fire With Fire. They could do it all. An incredible talent, to be sure ...and it was such a sin to see them change the way they did. I still hold onto hope that they'll release one more album that brings it all back to the better days ...please, just one more!

Yep, that's another one that's awesome. It's all just so damn good!

Regarding the poll ...ya just knew that Escape wasn't going to get any votes.
