wonder if they ended up selling this one out. I got an email no Thursday saying there was less than 600 tickets left.

I still highly recommend you repeat that pregame ritual....Tootsie's for a triple prior to pregame skate.....seems to work!

I got an email yesterday saying they only had 300 left....and it is on all three partial plans.....should be a rockin' night at the GEC...

I am blowing off my partner's wedding reception for the game tonight.....I hope he understands....because his wedding present is 5 tickets to the 11/26 game against Dallas, lol....

looking at the injury report this morning;

STL..Tkachuk is out, Backman is questionable, Weight is probable

NSH..
walker is out of course
hall(ankle) still questionable, status determined at morning skate
nichol(foot) is still questionable
hamhuis(back) is probable
markov(back) is probable
legwand(leg) is probable

didn't realize hamhuis and markov got banged up against Dallas, both them and legwand missed practice yesterday

also see where STL called up goalie Curtis Sanford and that he supposedly will be in net tonight for the blues..this 26 year old guy is 5-1 in his career in the NHL,all back in the 02-03 season, and if i'm not mistaken one of those wins was over us back then

STL remains the only team that has not won on the road yet (0-4-2)...

it does make you wonder what our lineup will look like if both hall and nichol are determined ready to go tonight;

kariya-legwand-erat
hartnell-perreault-sullivan
upshall?/stevenson?/smithson?-johnson-hall
hordichuk?-nichol-smithson?/stevenson?/gamache?/upshall?

wouldn't be surprised though if either or both hall/nichol aren't still out for tonight's game though.. but am looking forward to seeing what trotz is thinking about who is scratched...

When you use Tkachuk in the same sentence as Weight it is not probable it is inevitable.

well I guess this is a good game to be injured for. Hopefully we can still scrape a good game together and let some of those guys heal.

I know this game is almost sold out but is it any surprise that it's the Blues coming to town on a Saturday......I wonder how many clublevel seats will be full of Blows fans.

this is a big game for us...it's a big game because it's one we think we should win, and we all know in the NHL anything's possible any given night and nothing is that simple... and therefore how dangerous it is to just think "we ought to win this one"

but, these games against STL,CLB, and CHI we have to largely dominate, if we have any real designs on challenging for that 4th-5th spot... so in some ways, that makes 24 games like this one against these 3 teams more important than the COL, VAN type of games

sigh - wanted to head down tonight, but no dice. actually got a date...would have brought her with me to the game, but 2 hours drive there and back in a car with a first date is rough on the strong silent type like myself. but maybe we'll make it back in time to catch the end of the game.

Looks like I'm 3\3

Hartnell's second goal was a goal scorer's goal. Who knew he had the moves? The first goal was simply a power forward getting into the slot, getting in the goalie's way and being in the perfect spot to tip a shot in. I feel bad for Kariya, because while Timonen DID tip the puck in, Kariya made the perfect setup, took the perfect shot at the perfect time and was likely going in either way. Vokoun made about three INCREDIBLE stops. Two were among the best I've seen from him, and definitely the best this year. We're now an incredible 7-0-1 when giving up the first goal. Upshall played his best game of the year tonight, and I hoped he'd get a penalty shot...but understood that he wouldn't. Some pretty bad calls on both sides(especially that last one when Wideman took away Kariya's passing lane and Kariya skated right into him, tripping. Even Pete and Terry were mystified, but hey, we'll take it.) Physicality on our part once again decided the game. In those 5 games, and even in some of the games we were winning...we were playing soft. Starting with the Edmonton game, we've been banging and reaping the benefits. We're not getting cycled all over, we're controlling the forecheck, we're creating odd-man rushes.

On an ugly note...Smithson, Erat, Kariya...all missed the gaping open net

Scott Hartnell now has 6 goals.

4 of them are game winners.

Would you have ever predicted this?? It's just so much fun walking out of the GEC after a big win.....I'm telling you, this game could have been different....the Blues were like a wounded bear and they could have hurt us....thank you Vokoun.

Some observations after the game.

Legwand got 8:48 of PP tonite and 6:03 against the Stars. In addition to more point shots this has been a major difference in the recent improvement in PP fortunes. Legwand is playing on the strong side down low with Kariya on the half boards and has been playing strong in the corners keeping control of the puck and going to the net.

I can't believe Legwand gave up that open net backhand at the end of the game, instead centering it for a trailer...was that trailer Hartnell? Was David looking to get him the hat trick?

I thought Sanford played a darn good game....Tomas just played better. He had at least 3 incredible saves that should have been goals. Complete defensive breakdowns on all three. Vokoun could have easily been the first star tonight. The defense had a relatively weak game against a Blues team without alot of talent up front. If we would have had a Bertuzzi or Holmstrom camped in front of the net tonight, we would have been in trouble.

Alot of big hits near the end of the first....I thought it was going to get real chippy. Suter got pasted at our blueline, but bounced back to deliver a team leading 4 hits on the game. Trotzy is trusting him more and more. He spent 5 of his 17 minutes TOI on special teams tonight with 4 of those on the PP.

I really like Smithson's game. I think he will be up the entire year. He is so versatile with playing center or wing, defensively responsible, can play with an edge and grit, good at faceoffs and has good size, which we sorely need. This guy is a coach's dream. Gamache's days are unfortunatley numbered. I bet he is the one that gets sent down if Upshall continues to play well. If he doesn't clear waivers, I don't think Trotzy will be that upset. He just has no long-term place in this organization as he can only be effective on the 1st or 2nd line, and with his diminutive size and lack of true speed, he just isn't going to cut it here, or most likely many other places up in the NHL, I believe.

I wondered who was going to step up in Walker's absence, and Hartnell has definitely made a case for himself for answering the bell. Hartnell with 4 of his 6 goals this year.....GWGs. Erat also has stepped up his game since Walker has gone down.

I am very happy we came out with the two points on this one. If Tomas hadn't brought his "A" game, this one could have easily gone the other way.

Sucks to be a Blues fan this year....

Yeah, I know it was just against the Blues, but what did I say last GT? Give Harnell the ice time and the Preds will look much better if not win.
