It couldn't have been Crosby... he's grabbing his face when it's being said... I do think it might be someone on the bench, however. I can't imagine a fan being that loud.

Ha, I guess I was right that he sounded Canadien. Just wondering what's the difference between a western Canadien accent and a say Ontario accent?

Brooks Orpik talking trash after he didnt do anything to prevent Jed Ortmeyer's goal? Orpik looked like Mark Messier just skating on by just watching the goalie try to make the save and doing nothing to prevent someone from scoring

I posted in the GDT that I think it possibly may have been Orpik. Orpik went to Boston College and Poti went to Boston University. Perhaps some bad blood?

The funny thing about it too is Poti did nothing. I thought maybe when I seen it live he gave someone a cheap shot.

I think it was Orpik, and he said it to Poti because Poti kept the puck in the zone on him before, was funny though, my kid asked me why they curse in hockey on TV, after hearing it live. I told her everyone curses at Poti, even when he plays well.

There different.... Like Texas/western accents to say New Yorker or Boston accents. When I went to Toronto I couldn't tell the difference between their accents and the accents of people in Detroit, Ohio, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Western Canada has some thick accents sound kind of scottish and emphasize vowels a lot more.

Aww Now *thats* what Parent/child hockey bonding is all about

I was sure it could have been Crosby; who else would use a word like nerd besides an 18 year old on a night when everything was getting under his skin.

I kinda thought Orpik was a tough guy but apparently not. Its not like he chose nerd becuase he didnt want to curse. I guess he could have called him a jerk too, that would have really got to him

Maybe this is a staged thing? Poti had someone say it so the NY fans would rally around him. Seriously tho is there a chance it could have been a Ranger just messing with him? I cant get over someone using 'nerd' in between all those f-words

That comment was definately from the bench. And you'd be suprised what kind of things come out of the players' mouths. I know at the junior level we tend to know most of the players in the league so we what to say to get a rise out of the other player and a laugh from your own team. The truly derogatory and curse words are just cookie-cutter insults that are always taken with a grain of salt. I know that a dominant player in my league had an abnormally large nose, so we used to have one of our defensive specialists shadow him all over the ice screaming "Nose, nose nose" the entire game. Pretty funny, and effective. "Nose" took 4 penalties that game.

my freshman year in high school, since most of our team were seniors with big mouths they would always talk crap like that, mostly call people ugly and talk about their moms

guess thats why we had 4 brawls after the game that year, going to the locker room in a 16 game season

i remember playing in a short 10 game house league that had a really hot chick with huge **** on one of the teams, everyone would rub up on her and feel her up very blatently, THAT was a little over the top imo but no one said anything and you can imagine what was said

she was pretty good too

Ha! That clip is a beaut. How many players were miked last night? I know Mario was. Maybe someone who was next to him on the bench? If it was just standard game audio, it would not have been picked up that clearly

Someone said they think it was Crosby that said it ... Anyone that has seen Crosby speak knows that he isn't the type of player to say that to an opposing player... he's a rookie and isn't going to call out a veteran on another team.
Crosby called me a lucky ****er in a provincial playdown game a few years ago.
