Projected Points Update

Hi, I saw this on a Penguins board a few days ago. Figured I'd throw an updated one up after another big win. The equation is only Points/Games Played, obviously strength of schedule, injuries, and all that fun stuff isn't taken into account.

Eastern Conference Projected Points
Ottawa 142.13
Carolina 128.13
Philadelphia 125.73
Montreal 123.00
NY Rangers 107.89
Toronto 91.11
New Jersey 86.82
Boston 82.00
Buffalo 77.18
NY Islanders 77.18
Tampa Bay 72.89
Atlanta 72.35
Florida 68.33
Pittsburgh 68.33
Washington 57.88

My apologies for the lousy formatting. Hopefully it's legible enough for a quick read.

CK

Wow the defending chamos wouldn't even make the playoffs. We'd play Montreal. That's not a bad matchup. We're 1-1-1 against them, winning 1, losing 1 in OT (could've won that one but Weekes let in a weak goal) and yeah we lost one 4-1. Kind of similar to our game against the Lightning, it was 0-0 in the first two periods, but still they did a good job pulling away, but it wasn't like we were dominate the entire game.

it's obviously way to early to start thinking about the playoffs, let alone playoff matchups...but i would be very happy to go against montreal in the first round. Ottawa and Philly would be a much great challenge imo.

I'd be surprised if Ottawa loses 5 more games this year, they're just having their way with everyone

How many losses did that 96 Detroit team have? I believe they set the record for points in a season. Am I right? BTW, they ended up losing in the playoffs that season talk about a choke!

They just gotta hope theres no injuries over there. They have enough top line depth to take injuries to one or two stars, but passed that, they'd be screwed.

Note: Anyother team losing one or two stars could pack up the season, that goes to show you how good this Ottawa team is.

They played a very entertaining series with the Colorado Avalanche, which was basically the Stanley Cup finals for that year.

Ah, oh well. Since it has generated a bit of discussion here I won't consider it a total loss.

Plus, I've got percentage points!

It will take around 90 points to make the PO's. A avg. '500 team will have 90 points.(after 1/4 of the season in avg. every tenth game ends with a draw.)

i say the rangers get 95 points and finish 6th in the conferance and thats worst case scenario. this team could be a cup contender by march if they keep playing like this.

Um, I wouldn't say cup contender. We just don't have the horses yet to get through the marathon playoff format. I think Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Boston and Buffalo make a charge towards the end ...we will drop....definetly not getting 107 points.

Like I said before..this year isn't about the winning or making the playoffs. We are FAR AHEAD of where I thought we'd be as far as having some young players proving themselves. Next year Lundqvist will be #1, Staal makes the big team and 2-3 players in Hartford push their way onto the roster.
