Toronto/Columbus Proposal

I know that columbus wants a good center and Allison wants more playing time.

how about
To Toronto: Nikolai Zherdev
To Columbus: Jason Allison, Carlo Colaiacovo, 2nd Round Pick

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

But seriously, an aging veteran who skates like he's wearing rusty blades and is streaky at the best of times, a 22 yr old prospect who may or may not become a full time NHLer and a draft pick that does not garantee anything, for a 21 yr old highly talented winger who skates like the wind, and can score in bunches and just happens to be going through an early season slump. I think i'll pass.

Realistically it would have to be more like this.

To Columbus: Coliacovo, Steen, 1st Round pick

To Toronto: Zherdev

Even then, I am not sure that Columbus would bite on that. I personally wouldn't. Steen will be a good players, very solid 2nd liner, maybe even a solid 1st liner, however Zherdev has superstar potential. As for Coliacovo, how many more years until this guy is a bust?

What has Zherdev shown to prove he is worth that. Steen has shown of better use in the NHL then Zherdev. Potential is great but he shouldn't take so many nights off. Steen will give you 82 games of complete hockey where Zheredev will give you 40 to 50 games where he will be an elite player. I will take Steen every time over a guy like that.

Agreed. I think Steen is just as good if not better. Besides the Leafs 1st round pick this year could be there highest in years. Cola is also a shoe in to be a top 4, Quinn is just to blind to see.

Steen is a solid player. Nik Zherdev is Peter Bondra like.

this isn't as bad as some people think. That is if Colaiacovo isn't as good as he was once thought to be

Watch the last four games he's played since his personal situation was worked out and he was benched and also his 52 from last year, i think you'll change your mind.

Steen has been very good and looks tio be a solid player for the future but the deal is still ludicrous. You don't trade guys like Zherdev. And he has played like crap to begin the season because he had a very traumatic personal problem to deal with.

There is no combination of players that Toronto could put together to get Zherdev...

I think some posters here are selling Steen short. Maybe I'm reaching, and this is just gut feeling after watching him in a grand total of two games, but I think he is going to be a #1 center in the NHL.

I agree, I really like Steen (yes, I know, he plays for Toronto), and I'm sure he can eventually be a star centreman, but if we're going based on assumptions, I also think Zherdev will be a top 5 scorer in the NHL eventually. I think it would take alot more than Steen to get Zherdev out of Columbus.
