OTT/STL proposal

Ott gets:
Drake (one yr 2 mill contract)
2nd rounder
$500,000

Stl gets:
Havlat (and sign him to a 2yr 2mill/yr deal)

Ott could use a playoff performer like Drake, and with the extra cash he wouldn't cost much more than they were offering Havlat.

That's one of the worst proposals I have ever seen on these boards. Dallas Drake and Martin Havlat are in different worlds in talent and trade value.

Keep dreaming...

If I thought they were equal in trade value, I wouldn't have added the pick or the cash.

BTW, Stillman puts up similar numbers to Havlat, and he was traded for just a second rounder.

I don't think it's that bad, given the salary/pick, and I think Drake could be a good guy for Ottawa. I'd want St. Louis to throw a prospect in or something, though.

he old in the nhl hes already played many games compared to havlat....... Stillman has not gotten over a total of 68 points in a season where as i think havlat could have the potential to score over that many points

Would Ottawa trade Havlat (22 yrs old) for Stillman and Drake assuming they were both still in St.Louis? Is that what you're equating Havlat's value to? Are you serious or joking?

Drake - 35 years old - future oldtimers game star
Stillman - 29 years old - IMO very overrated

Havlat - 22 years old - future 80 point producer

This proposal is pretty bad in my opinion, but maybe I'm biased cause I'm a Sens fan. What do independent people think?

There is no benefit for the Sens to do this. Marty will eventually come to his senses and realize that this is stupid. It's a ONE year contract...ONE year closer to Arbitration...ONE year to further improve his market value, etc...

Havlat won't be moved unless we get an offer we can't refuse...and this isn't one of 'em.

Bad from a Sens point of view. A potential star for a 3rd line plugger and a pick? Don't think so. They could sign a Steve Thomas for relatively cheap. Or trade a B prospect or pick to get one (Like a Todd Harvey).

Dallas Drake doesn't have that much trade value. He's useful but a team isn't going to move someone like Havlat for him.

Ottawa is playing hardball to Havlat because they can. Kind of like what New Jersey does to its players. Ottawa isn't desparate for cash like they were before.

Highly dubious proposal,
I suspect if blues called mentioning cajanek or sejna then Sens might listen to havlat offer.
otherwise no deal

Havlat is one of the most marketable trade assets going. He's practically untradable because what you'd have to give up would be so costly.

OTT would probably trade him for Joe Thornton. For Dallas Drake? Hahahaha.

Nothing personal, guy. But that proposal is thoroughly unrealistic.

.

That has nothing to do with it, Havlat has much more potential than Stillman or Drake thast why the trade proposal royally sucks ass.

So if Domi put up the same amount of points as say Hossa do u think a Domi for Hossa deal would be fair straight up?

Tell you what. Ottawa will then trade Christer Olsson back to St Louis in return for Pavol Demitra.

While Demitra gets you points Olsson is a character guy. Those guys are hard to get. We'll throw in a 7th round pick and $50,000.

If St Louis does that deal first then maybe Ottawa will listen to Dallas Drake for Havlat. You talk to your GM and we'll talk to ours.

I have to disagree. It's absolutely brutal, from my perspective. Drake is a 34-YO third-line winger who will be a UFA this summer. Havlat, at a very tender age, is already a 50-pt guy. He looks like he can be a 35 goal scorer in a year or two.

Drake could help any team. Very gritty, hard hitting winger. But he isn't going to get much more than 30 points or so, he gets hurt a lot, and he can be gone via UFA next year. I doubt he has much trade value at this point, and certainly not enough to get Havlat.

The price that St. Louis got for Stillman, who was basically a salary dump, is pretty much irrelevant.

If Drake goes on waivers the Sens would probably pick him up, but I doubt they would send a player back for him.

To give you some perspective on that trade, the Sens are looking to move Leschyshyn.

So how 'bout Curtis and a 2nd for Barret Jackman? Curtis is a great character guy with solid leadership.
