Does his number get retired in Dallas when he retires?

Not now.

If he had played out his career in Dallas, there probably would have been a strong case for him.

The only Stars players (current or recent) for which I would consider retiring their numbers at this point are Modano and maybe Lehtinen (provided he continues his strong play for the rest of his career and he stays in Dallas).

Players that don't play their entire career for one team don't deserve to even be considered to have their numbers retired except under extraordinary circumstances (like Bourque in Boston). Hatcher does not fit those criteria.
