Lemieux. His offence is too much for any other individual. He most likely won't win the Art Ross, but if given the talent that other top players have (Forsberg, Sakic, Blake, Hejduk, Selanne, ect. and other teams best, you get the idea) he would still play outstanding. We all saw how he played at the beggining of last year with Kovalev, Morozov, and Tarnstrom?

I was gonna go with Antii Aalto...what the hell happened to him by the way...back in finland i guess

seriously forsberg doesn't have much competition right now, but thornton, naslund, lidstrom and even Jagr could creep back into things

I'd say Niklas Lidstrom is the best. A close second would be Peter Forsberg.

Richard Park.

Ok, seriously I can't decide when all the positions are mixed up. Forwards, defensemen and goalies should be separated for me to make up my mind.

All I know is that Lidstrom is my choice for Ds, Brodeur for goalies while Markus Naslund isn't even a top 10 forward in this league. My choice for top forward probably goes to Modano.

I am awaiting the flames now :p

I'd be interested to know 10 forwards better than naslund right now.

I started a list before reading your post while I was downstairs grabbing a bite and here's what I came up with quickly:

Forsberg
Sakic
Modano
Fedorov
Bertuzzi
Thornton
Iginla
Allison
Hossa
Lemieux
Sundin
Jagr

Very similar to your list. I agree with your "debatables" selections as well. It is true that it is not always clear cut. A few of the players are of course less valuable than Naslund because of health concerns.

I actually think Naslund is somewhere in a second pack of forwards, who can all get hot or not, like:

Kariya
Demitra
Satan
Palffy
Hejduk
Kovalev

Naslund is a player who can bring something similar to these guys. They're all very different and yet similar. I actually think Satan is similar to Naslund except he is better defensively and stronger.

I'd take Satan before Naslund but that's me.

I wouldn't strongly disagree if someone told me Naslund is superior to this list but I would personally pick a couple of them before Naslund to play on my team.

Heck, I might even pick Lindros before Naslund if I was building a franchise, despite all the risks. Probably Tkachuk and a few others as well.

If both were 18 and healthy, I would take Lindros in a heartbeat over Naslund. Most people seem to think that Lindros is junk but they forget about his strong finesse skills (especially his freaking wristshot), excellent skating and the physical edge he brings to his game. Didn't he have one of the best ppg before his concussion?

I think higher of Naslund than you Vlad.
However, I rate Lemieux above any player in this league.

Martin Skoula, he's got such a puck-poise.

Seriously, I'd say that right now, Peter Forsberg is the best player in the league.

After seeing Lemieux last night against Philly... I think he's going to surprise a lot of people this year.
