Todd Marchant To waivers??

Does Sather pick him up? I say yes, he can help this team as the 2ed line centre and help on the PK, but who would he bump?? I say claim him and trade Poti and Nieminen to make room. Sather had him before and almost signed him.

I know but neither is Rucchin. Marchant at least is faster and quicker and can draw alot of pp for the Rangers.

If we get Marchant and deal Poti and say Nieminen or Ward, then its worth claiming him. Sather might have something up his sleeve, u never know

Someone who doesn't deserve to be bumped.

Marchant's a nice player, but doesn't address any of the needs we've been discussing. Pass.

You can't pay a guy like Marchant that type of money in todays NHL...he has ZERO value at that price to anyone and should've been bought out be the Jackets

You seem to think that dealing Poti is easy. It's not.

dude, please you have almost every ranger fan here beggin you to stop

what makes it worse is you don't even think any of this through

who are you trading poti for, what makes you think that can happen, why hasn't it already since its obvious they've been trying

who are you dumping nemo on

and please, you just said he's a second line center, now he's not but just because he's better then ruccin (which i'm not even sure of) that makes him one?

You can't be serious

But on the downside, he has another three years after this season left on a contract that pays him, $2.47 million, $2.47 million and $2.66 million, which may be a financial albatross many teams are not prepared to assume
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=143275&hubname=

Why waste the cap room and tie up a spot at center for another 3 seasons?Marchant is a 32 year old third line center. You can't be serious

Sather didn't sign Marchant because he wanted a six year deal at over $3 million per.Things have changed since then.Dominic Moore and Blair Betts are doing the same job if not a better job than Marchant for a fraction of $2.47 million per

Marchants an upgrade over Rucchin IMO but not worth the money and years at his age.

No reason in hades to pick the guy up....Marchant has slipped and the amount of salary and length on his contract is hideous..Besides, we already have what Todd Marchant used to be in Dominic Moore.....And the only thing Marchant has over Rucchin is speed, not enough to balance all the other negatives..

bad idea. im pretty sure he has a no-trade-clause in his way too big contract. we would be stuck with him.plus, he doesnt have anything we need right now and would take playing time from the young guys. remeber, we are in a REBUILDING YEAR...we can still acquire someone like him at the deadline if we are still in the playoff race. remember, its only been 20 games or so.

ya know it's funny, the only guy I would like to have on the rangers in this trade is Tyler Wright. He'd fit right into the current line up and would be no big deal to lose if we had to place him on waivers or whatever when Immonen or other kids were ready to step in. Wright's a hard working player and is good influence on young players. Excellent role player in my opinion. If this team makes the playoffs he's the kind of guy I'd like to see added at the deadline.

What exactly does Marchant bring to the table that makes him worth another $2.5 mill per season for 3 more years?? He's a 33 YO 3rd line center thats never scored more than 20 goals in a season. Doesn't seem like the best way to spend $7.5 million over the next 3 seasons now does it?
