Hamilton seems be be the only guy talking about Guhle's game last night that isn't saying nice things.

Sounds something like a Bret Hedican, he's a guy who played a #4/5-type role for what, 15 years?

On WGR this morning, Hamilton said that he started poorly (like the whole team) but played well once he got his feet under him and while he expected that he play another year in Junior to develop, he would not be out of place on the Sabres roster this year. Not as negative as the tweet posted earlier for sure.

I noticed the inconsistency myself. Buy it was Dunleavy who was calling the game, right? He certainly mentioned a couple Guhle flubs during play-by-play. I wasn't watching the game, just listening, so I didn't make that up.

Anyway, Hamilton can be wrong about things and still have respectable opinions about other things. No one is right about everything.

In the case of Hamilton, however, I find it best to assume that he can occasionally be right about a few things and generally incorrect in most things.

One of Hamilton's direct quotes from that interview:

"I don't think he'd look out of place if he played in the NHL this year"

I'm not a fan of Hamilton continuing to state that Larsson had a "rotten attitude" last season.

Why do you seem to have an issue with Guhle?

Where'd you get that? I love that kid. Most of the things I've posted since training camp started are suspicions that Murray/Bylsma are taking a hard look at him to judge how soon he can turn pro (I think he's a long-shot to make the roster this year). I've only seen him play during the July camps, so everything else is derived from the media i.e. streaming interviews, news sites, wgr play by play.

The inconsistency comment was about the comments made about Guhle, not Guhle.

If he can turn into a Hedican then that would be a great pick.

My hope is that he becomes a Bouwmeester. A skater who can play on your top pairing for years and do everything relatively well. That would be a difference making homerun pick at that point.

If they keep Guhle longer than tonight, that's an extended look IMO. I still think he gets reassigned tomorrow after tonight's game and is back in time for PA's WHL openers.

Was just about to post that he likely gets sent back tomorrow morning and that if he doesn't then things get interesting.

I just don't think Buffalo can shelter him enough to play this season. For a team that is acting like it wants to make the playoffs Guhle would have to do a lot to show he's worth keeping around.

I think they may keep him up at least thru the preseason.

When does Rochester camp start up?

He probably would have fared better if they didn't saddle him with Leduc of Death.

He can't go there, he can only go to the AHL or here

I'm sure that was a typo because Rochester is in the AHL... For Guhle its either juniors or NHL.

I went last night.. was impressed by his skating, as everyone under the sun has been, but positionally he's got work to do. I think he'll be sent down before the season starts and be given the opportunity to play a lot of minutes in juniors. I'd expect him to be given the Reinhart treatment, where he's asked to bulk up and prepare himself to make a push for the NHL club next year.

I know he cant go to Rochester---its back to juniors or the Sabres.

What I was wondering is when Rochester camp opens because Buffalo right now I think Buffalo has 17 Dmen at camp---I am assuming they send some down to Rochester when their camp opens. I don't know when they happens.

If this starts next week then another reason they keep Guhle in buffalo is because of injuries to some of the Dmen while others go to Rochester.

Amerks training camp started Monday, September 29th last year. (So this Monday? if everything stays the same?)

Matt Ellis on hockey hotline today mentioned that the vets have been very impressed with Guhle.

Roster was cut to 50 yesterday and Guhle is still with the team...that's pretty darn impressive.

Lets not get over excited and give him the grigorenko treatment.
If Guhle is ready to make the team, McCabe is still ahead of him by miles. Don't see any room for the kid this year. Send him back after training camp.

I'm not following how this is the Grigo treatment. He has played well so far and is staying in camp. That's impressive for a non first round 18 yr old.

Shades of a Ryan O'Reilly type deal

No chance he sticks, but interested to see how hard they truly look at him.

I wasn't saying he was ready to make the team or advocating that he should, I'm just saying it's darned impressive that he's still there showing he belongs in camp. He wouldn't be there if he didn't and it speaks well for his future.

I only watched TV but to me his positioning was far superior to Leduc or Donovan or Cola or Ruh. Good box outs around the net to give his goalie a line of site, and eliminating opponents looking for garbage.
